Thank you for posting this. I first found out about UK allowing the US to use our bases from Blue Sky posts and was appalled but checked it out. Turns out it was part of a European coordinated response to threats to unarmed commercial shipping. Not a U-turn at all, it turns out.

The Environment Agency will expand enforcement activity, allowing them to intervene earlier on illegal waste dumping.

Their budget for this was £10m in 2024/5. It is being increased by £45m over the next 3yrs.

It will also see increased powers, closure of loopholes & support for land owners.
