US tolerance for loss of life and assets is low. This ultimately limits their options, despite all the tough war talk

The other trend over the last 30 years is people becoming less interested in socialising after work. People are so busy and exhausted, there is no energy or time left over. Employers no longer give employees time to be on social committees or organise events. No wonder people want to WFH

Lol reminds of my Mum relating all sorts of alarming stuff that she had been informed of, through listening to Ray Hadley. She refused to accept that he was not a reliable informant.

Liberals need to resolve internal questions on migration approach The Liberals need to resolve the internal ambiguities they have on big policy questions when it comes to migration.

Ohoh,
Angus Taylor's first piece of "policy" and the Libs have lost Michelle Grattan. They are in trouble.

Tough? How exactly does it differ from what's there now? This has no details and isn't meant to. It's just an advert - a message to the ignorant and the racist.

"Israel’s greatest victory to date may be the reality distortion that it’s managed to create around its war on Lebanon, even as it’s killed 1,500 people and laid claim to its land."

With Israel's 'finger on the trigger', can the ceasefire last? Matthew Doran has what you need to know Iran thinks Lebanon was part of this truce. The US and Israel did not. That split could shatter the fragile peace, which could benefit the Israeli PM.

Matt Doran's articles are increasingly useful

Christian villages in Lebanon with no affiliation to Hezbollah attacked by Israel Bashir was injured when Israel attacked his home in a Christian village in Lebanon's south, where many residents refuse to leave despite threats of destruction.

I wonder whether this will attract criticism from western governments now they are going after Christians as well

(Zionist groups often produce guides on how to spot when anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism, the answer usually amounting to 'when it's actually opposition to Zionism', but for some reason they never produce guides about how to tell when pro-Israel politics are anti-Semitic. They'd lose too many allies.)

Their arguments are always bad-faith and nonsensical, (and amplified by conservative media). This is why Tim Walz was so successful when he started calling the conservatives out as 'weird'.

It sounds bad to say “I only want to see white people starring in movies” so instead you attack “woke casting” if a movie has too many non-white characters. It’s the filmmakers who are the real racists!

Correct. Expanding copyright to fight the AI industry is a huge mistake. Expand collective bargaining rights instead, and labor will be able to fight back on behalf of the entire working class.

We’re finally getting to a point where news outlets are calling Israel’s invasion of Lebanon what it is. But in the weeks prior (and even now, since some of these phrases were spotted just this week), media went out of its way to avoid calling a spade a spade.

I can’t help thinking how this is a massive waste. With large corporations involved we just know they will be in it to exploit anything they can for profit. I don’t trust them and don’t see how humanity will benefit.

Map showing Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz

Map showing Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz

If the Trump administration is really going to use ground troops to "reopen the Strait" that doesn't mean Kharg - that means Qeshm.

Qeshm is twice the size of Bahrain, houses considerable strike capability, is only a few km from the mainland, and is home to almost 150k civilians.

Bad bad bad.
