Trump told you he’d run America like a business.
He is.
It’s called asset stripping. You sell the profitable pieces, gut the workforce, load it with debt, and walk away rich while everyone else holds the bag.
Congratulations. You didn’t elect a president. You hired a liquidator.

A prolonged fossil fuel crunch just might, at this moment, be *the* exogenous shock necessary for a rapid global transition to clean energy adoption, but also it's going to be a brutally miserable experience for the world's poorest.
This remains the greatest piece of persuasive advertising ever made about electrification. It's insane to me that Nissan dropped it & it's insane that no one on the green left has picked it up to make it a national PSA.
Sledgehammer was released 40 years ago today!
Yet again I remind everyone (as Elizabeth does in her very next tweet) that "foreigners are corrupting our pure blood with weakness & disease" is Fascism 101. Not some variant, not some metaphorically similar thing, not some echo -- the thing itself.
I’ve been impressed with his will to fight on siting. I’d love to hear how he thinks other regions could apply lessons he’s learned about siting issues.
Richard Hatch was one of the kindest people I’ve ever worked with. He was also brilliant. He elevated any material he read.
A poster with a colorful stack of books on the left and this text on the right: “Hey, Teenagers: Pay close attention to the books people try to ban. Then, make a beeline to read those books, if you can. Find out for yourself why those people want that book banned. Find out for yourself if they can be trusted to know what’s best for you.” ~ Jeff Zentner

Ah, other side of the bridge!
Is that Mt. Tam?
It’s a topic we thought Bolts readers may have a lot of questions about, so we turned to Andrew Guthrie Ferguson, a law professor and author of the new book “Your Data Will Be Used Against You.” Ferguson researched how modern policing is tracking personal data, and how digital surveillance technology can be weaponized to threaten personal freedoms. “You are, at best, a warrant away from having your most intimate personal details revealed to a government agent looking to incarcerate, embarrass, or intimidate you,” he writes in his book. Ferguson has agreed to answer questions from Bolts readers—so now we want to hear from you.
All of our personal data is increasingly tracked & surveilled. A new book (“Your Data Will Be Used Against You”) breaks it down.
We asked its author, @profferguson.bsky.social, if he'd answer your questions on the risks & what it means for politics & liberties. He agreed.
So ask him anything!
Don’t get me wrong, there’s some good stuff in there, but it’s hard to see how plug-in solar could ever offset the loss of rooftop.
They’re gutting net metering and energy efficiency and calling it a climate and affordability bill? What a nightmare.
I feel like having ai write your emails is such an insane waste of time. You already have to give it whatever information you would put in the email so whatever the ai is adding is entirely pointless. At that rate you are just wasting the time of whoever reads it.

David Lynch’s depiction of Giedi Prime shows it as having better public transit than most American cities
I don’t think this is a problem I was having
There’s more recent videos, but the playlist I linked is just the biggest milestones. If you want to see the newer stuff, just click the videos tab in the channel.
Loved this film as a kid
TTRPG with old-school "you can die in character creation" mechanics, except most terminal events are stuff like "reached adulthood with no major traumas" or "found a love of carpentry", so your goal is to make enough bad life choices that your character is a big enough loser to become an adventurer.
If you tell Americans we can go to Mars, they don't believe that. If you tell them we can give kids free lunch at schools, they don't believe that either.
We need to learn to dream before we can fix the mess we've made of this planet.
I think there should be a microblogging platform where the complete text of each post is also its primary database key. Want to make a post with the exact same text that anyone else has ever made? Key integrity violation, try again. This would not benefit anyone in any way.
I think they simply don't understand they've done something wrong. And they think everyone else is secretly just like them.
i don’t want my appliances to be smart or connect to the internet. i want them to do one mechanical task for 100 years

You can do it! I have done it, and I am fortunate.
“The Enshittification of Dogs” in this issue of @analogsf.bsky.social is the most bleak thing I’ve ever written, and I’ve written for Warhammer.
The premise: what if a corporation made dogs that didn’t need to poop?
