I got home from The Ripped Bodice last night, and my hubby looked me up and down and told me he was most disappointed that my bodice was not ripped 🤦‍♀️ #lifewithapunster

So keep writing historical romance, especially indie authors. The audience is there. If trad publishing is piling onto the bandwagon of contemporary, then find other means to get your books out.

We live in cycles. 3/🧵

That’s because if one book takes off, a bunch of authors pile onto that theme or subgenre (think IBP, MGMF, or OV romance), readers read a bunch of them, get burned out or become disillusioned by writing that isn’t quite up to what they’re expecting, and then the next thing comes along. 2/🧵

On the whole “historical romance is dead” debate:

Things cycle in romance and have for decades. Right now we’re in an #historicalromance trough. But it’s been the apex predator before, and it probably will be again one day. 1/🧵

Well, I'm here.

I'm a romance-novel reader, a huge believer in the study of #romancenovelhistory , a fantasy reader, a jigsaw puzzle fan, a singer with a degree in classical vocal performance, a wife, a mom, and gleefully retired. My persona vary according to my mood.

Hi.
