Ren is very badly injured, infact in the bun!Ren universe this is the catalyst for her changing into a viera. Since UT is dictated by emotion she heals herself in the image of those she loves most.

A spider flopped on a leaf. He is holding a pair of things that look like arms in front of him and they end in spiral red appendages.
This is a male long-jawed orbweaver from the Ecuadorian cloud forest. Those spiral red things are his pedipalps, which he uses to transfer sperm to the female spider. It was interesting to observe, does he lock on like a light socket? Dunno, but nature sure can be weird.
