I wrote this, upon realising that my child has a right to an education, but not Irish-medium education despite Irish being the official language of the state and her first language. Mol an óige isn’t a phrase heard around the corridors of the Dept of Education.

A UCG without an Arts Degree is like RCSI without a medical degree. It’s integral to the fabric and culture of the university. I can’t believe we’ve allowed education to wander to the point that if something doesn’t plonk someone directly into a job, working for the man, it doesn’t have value.
‘Beating shall continue until morale improves’ mindset is bleeding the public health service dry of workers. Treat people well, they’ll stay. Simple as that.
I see this article is being heavily shared with the usual ‘if the state pays for their training they should be forced to work here’ comments. I paid €68,000 for my degree. Had to stop working as a GP trainee as the scheme wouldn’t facilitate part time hours.

Wrote a piece today in favour of a four day week. Before naysayers jump on, just think about it. And think about these two other headlines also published in the same paper today. What kind of world and life do we actually value?
