So many female journalists I know has at least one me too story they couldn’t get over the line because it’s so hard. You need so many victims to go on the record. And for so many good and understandable reasons - like fear of being sued - victims are scared.

Literary writing famously attracts well-adjusted extroverted people who just love spending large amounts of time in the public eye.
@ItsBCJim The bad part of getting older is that you become an NPC, the good part is that being an NPC rocks. Nothing like walking down the street with a thought bubble that's just a sandwich you're looking forward to. Protagonism is best left to teens and the insane
Whilst paying at the checkout recently, I noticed a circular, faded imprint in the leatherwork of my wallet. At once, I was confronted by the tragic realisation that cause of the mark is an out of date condom being kept in the smal zip pocket for so long.
70% of my kids class went as KPop Demon Hunters and that included the boys and that's a conservative estimate. The boys have KPop Demon Hunters hoodies at her school too. This is a ridiculous statement
Graph of Australian diesel imports sourcing by country since 2004. Shows a very great increase in 'other Asian' sources over the last decade, with Singapore slowly declining, becoming a minor source. Data through January 2015.
Graph of the day: crudeoilpeak.info/australian-d.... How many knew this split? I didn't; would have said majority Singapore.
It is again now apparently, after others have restricted exports!
Amanda Smith @AmandaSmithSays Thinking again about how the names Arctic and Antarctica just means "bears" and "no bears." reluctantbroodingdads So as an Antarctic expert I need to add to this that we had not in fact been to Antarctica when it was named. The ancient Greeks decided that because there was an Arctic at the top of the world, with bears, there had to be an opposite at the other end, without bears. Which is kind of ridiculous except that the f🌫️ckers were dead on
A fake image of Artemis II astronauts in a small front porch raft waving to the camera outside the capsule with a Navy recovery boat in the background and orange buoyancy balloons in the water.
This image circulating is fake. The front porch was much larger than that and held several Navy recovery personnel as well. Real images can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/nasah...
first impressions of the Lego smart brick, before I do any actual tearing down: wow, I forgot how good they are at working with plastic. the injecton molding remains impeccable, at least for this specific piece (I know about their recent QC issues elsewhere)
they're literally high heels with Animal's face at the front and "animal" and "louder" on the sides and they're ORANGE FUR
Gonna get married in the Animal-from-The-Muppets heels.
interesting that when a movie with female protagonists does poorly the response is to cancel upcoming projects with female protagonists and when a movie with female protagonists is a huge hit the response is to cancel upcoming projects with female protagonists
I accidentally scheduled an appointment with an ontologist instead of an oncologist & bad news: I failed my metaphysical
A "wartime" poster that says: "Using Generative AI? You're Prompting with Hitler! GenAI is a Fascist Project! Try using your brain instead! Don't surrender your creativity to the Tech Billionaires' control!"
I missed this from @phineas.bsky.social when it originally came out but it sure feels relevant at the moment.

(fake) Tom Scott video thumbnail featuring 1973's The Wicker Man. "Can this ritual bring their apples back?" I will be blocking anyone who makes an "oh god the bees" reference, that is a different movie not worthy of discussion.

Yeah, well *I'm* fed up with politicians who took until 2026 to realize an energy system which relies on constant extraction of resources sets you up for this very thing to happen one day.
Alternatives are here! We've been talking about them for decades now!
It's not that complicated!

No one should actually do this, but imagine if climate activists blocked the pathway of these trucks, so that the police would then have to come and arrest / jail / fine all the climate people so that the trucks could go back to blocking traffic for everyone else
