Just finished reading Here Where We Live Is Our Country by @mollycrabapple.bsky.social.
It's a beautifully written, thoughtful, emotionally intense exploration of an important part of Jewish radical history that too few people know about.
🧵:
Relatedly: I have a lot of thoughts about how Ashkenazi Jews, on the whole, assimilated into whiteness,* and how important it is to learn from our radical histories and return to our radical roots.
*Note that not all Ashkenazi Jews are white, as some have one Jewish parent and one BIPOC parent, or are interracially adopted
And there's the question of: how can American Jews reclaim the Bund's value of doikayt (hereness) on stolen Indigenous land?
Our position relative to the land, and to racialized systems of power, is so different in the US than it was in the Pale of Settlement.
How do we uphold diasporism, our sense of rootedness wherever we find ourselves, our opposition to a romanticized "homeland" that is actually an ethnonationalist nightmare, and also fight for Indigenous sovereignty, for Land Back?
A Statement In Opposition to HR 7661 The freedom to speak and to read is a fundamental principle of the United States of America. That is why we have joined together — parents, students, educators, library workers, authors, free expression advocates, booksellers, and publishers — to stand in support of our nation’s school-aged children and teens and in opposition to H.R. 7661. H.R. 7661, if passed, will compel nationwide book censorship. It confuses obscenity with identity and stigmatizes vulnerable young people, particularly trans children and teens, based on who they are. It will continue to drain funding from our already underfunded schools and libraries. And it will threaten the creativity and critical thinking that are vital to education in the U.S.
Authors Against Book Bans has joined dozens of other organizations, nonprofits, publishers, & stores to issue this joint statement opposing HR7661
A core principle of democracy, freedom, and liberty is that the government does not choose what people get to read and who they get to be. This country has a long history of protecting our freedoms. H.R. 7661 goes against this. Together, we say that this bill goes against the U.S. Constitution, local self-determination, access to books, and a society that is welcoming for everyone, no matter who they are. Our schools deserve better than this. Our children and teens — all of them, without exception — deserve better than this. We urge the U.S. House of Representatives to vote NO on H.R. 7661 or, better yet, to not take it up for a vote at all.

When listing Target Corp‘s many failures over the last 2 years, please don’t forget that here in Minnesota, home to their effin’ HQ, they allowed 🧊 to hunt their own employees in their stores and stage their terror attacks on the surrounding neighborhoods from Target parking lots.😡
Please share as widely as possible.

Today is day 132 of the ICE occupation of MN.
Zeteo just released a short documentary about the current moment- we love to see media return for a follow up now that Minnesota isn’t in the headlines.

It is THAT good and films featuring COVID/Long-COVID are just as vital now in 2026!
I have a father and mother in law in Iran. I have a sister in law. A niece. She's 14. She likes silly pink headbands and purses and dresses, just like kids her age all over the world. There are 93 million people like her in Iran. People who do all the normal mundane life things as the rest of us.
I'm here because my Jewish grandparents escaped the Holocaust. Many of our family were not so fortunate. NEVER AGAIN is supposed to include Iranians. And Palestinians. And Ukrainians. And on and on. There are no exceptions based on religion or country of origin.
And also today @thesicktimes.org: @heatherhogan.bsky.social describes two new short films about Long COVID, produced as part of the 2026 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge!

Somehow, I think it’s the 400+ years of colonizing, genocide, and racism.
You can't separate anti-immigrant and anti-trans politics from what is happening with Iran. When MAGA picked transphobia and nativism as its organizing principle, it selected for the capacity to treat entire categories of people as civilizational threats whose elimination is an act of self-defense.
YOU: Hi my name is [name]. I’m calling from [ZIP CODE]. YOU: Today, President Trump said that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran does not meet his deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. That rhetoric is extreme, dangerous, and disqualifying. FOR THOSE W/ DEM ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric and use every available procedural tool to stop further escalation, including support for impeachment and urgent public pressure on congressional leadership. FOR THOSE W/ GOP ELECTEDS: I’m asking [ELECTED OFFICIAL] to publicly condemn this rhetoric, press the administration and cabinet to treat this as disqualifying conduct. YOU: Calling this what it is matters. Even if removal is difficult, elected officials should treat rhetoric like this as unfit and dangerous. YOU: [OPTIONAL COMMENTS]

Georgia lawmakers passed a bill that would lead to more arrests of homeless people and spur pointless lawsuits paid for by taxpayers. We need housing, not handcuffs.
We can still take action. Contact Gov. Kemp at 404-656-1776 and demand he vetoes HB 295. buff.ly/1B8mOZ4
Thoughts are with the Iranian people living in the shadow of the bombs that our country's leaders are threatening to free them with. This is not liberation. This is not humanity. We are a country ruled by morally bankrupt villains.
Donald Trump is one of the most evil men in history and if you think "a whole civilization will die tonight" is in any way defensible I hope you have the life you deserve.
