📊Critical minerals are driving resource nationalism - but are policies supporting sustainable, equitable development or repeating extractive patterns?
Critical Minerals & Resource Nationalism 2.0 by @amirleb.bsky.social & @triofrancos.bsky.social (@provcollege.bsky.social) examines global cases:
Civil society must be at the heart of industrial policy. Last week in Johannesburg, @tninstitute.bsky.social @tninstitute.bsky.social and Trade & Industrial Policy Strategies, brought 45+ leaders from 22 countries together to chart paths for equity and sustainability in green transformation
📍This week in Johannesburg (28-29 Aug), @tidecentre.bsky.social, @tninstitute.bsky.social and Trade & Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS) convene a global forum: ‘Reclaiming Industrial Policy for the People’.

This discussion forms part of London Climate Action Week (#LCAW) and aims to contribute to a more #just, #strategic, and institutionally grounded approach to global climate action ahead of #COP30.
Keynote: Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President of COP30
Members of the G20 Group of Experts
- @danielagabor.bsky.social, @soasuni.bsky.social
- @amirleb.bsky.social, @ox.ac.uk
- @mazzucatom.bsky.social, @iipp-ucl.bsky.social
- Ulrich Volz, @soaseconomics.bsky.social
Drawing from the Group’s recent report, the discussion will explore how #green #industrialpolicy, #fiscalcoordination, and #climate #finance #governance can be rethought to align with equity and the 1.5ºC target—moving beyond prevailing de-risking models.
The event will open with a keynote address by Ambassador André Aranha Corrêa do Lago, President of COP30, followed by a conversation with members of the Group of Experts appointed by Brazil’s G20 Presidency to advise the Taskforce on Global Mobilization Against Climate Change (TF‑CLIMA).
As #Brazil transitions from its 2024 #G20 Presidency to its upcoming role as host of #COP30 in 2025, this event will convene leading voices to examine how these twin leadership roles can help advance a more coordinated and equitable #globalclimate agenda.
