Sources say that if Kash Patel cannot stop binge drinking and spending taxpayer dollars on his personal travel, Donald Trump is prepared to fire the highest ranking woman at the FBI.
SARA EISEN: I think it was a bit of a trap to ask Kevin Warsh about the election denial, to get him to disagree w/ President Trump. You know no Fed Chair is going to weigh in on politics like that
WARREN: Look, I asked him a fact. We need a Fed Chair who can assert reality. Kevin Warsh can't do it
I don't even know what funds they can pull from to do this, but this deal will be a massive steaming turd.
They'll burn through the $500M in a quarter and still have no viable path forward as a business, with the balance sheets of their potential dance partners continuing to deteriorate.
Idiocy.
VAN HOLLEN: You said you disputed some of my facts. Do you dispute that Sheikh Tahnoon through his company invested $500m in World Liberty Financial just before the inauguration?
LUTNICK: I'm not aware of that
VAN HOLLEN: Seriously? It's been so widely reported
VAN HOLLEN: What you've done is prove a windfall to very wealthy people who don't pay taxes
BESSENT: Why would I do that? What's your theory of the case?
VAN HOLLEN: Because this administration time after time has tiled the tax code in favor of very wealthy people
This is also good stuff from @gtconway.bsky.social: He says only one of the major parties is functioning as an actor in a democracy, and that this is unsustainable.
"We can’t survive another 33 months of what we’ve seen for the last 15," he tells me.

In our discussion, @gtconway.bsky.social envisions two steps: Accountability for Trump and top officials first, then reforms to prevent future fascism second. It all amounts to a pretty good accountability agenda for the post-Trump era.
Here's the key exchange:

On the pod, @gtconway.bsky.social lays out accountability agenda if Dems win House:
*Impeach Trump and top officials
*Criminal referrals to DOJ
*25th Amendment commission
*Fix Impoundment Act
*Codify DOJ independence
There's much more here. It's a good discussion:

This is not just bureaucracy. It is a policy choice causing foreseeable harm. HHS leadership created a bottleneck, removed flexibility, and is now scrambling to fix the damage. Workers with disabilities are the ones paying the price.
7/8
And the waste is staggering. Skilled public health staff are sidelined, burning leave, or stuck waiting instead of working to keep us safe. During ongoing public health challenges, this is entirely self-inflicted. 🧵

HHS is now asking staff to go on temporary details just to process the backlog it created. That is not a solution. It is an admission that leadership decisions broke a system that used to function.

The Department of Health and Human Services created this mess. It revoked telework-based accommodations and centralized approvals at senior levels, slowing decisions to a crawl. Now more than 9,000 requests are backlogged across the department.

At CDC, employees with disabilities are stuck in a backlog of accommodation requests while being denied telework, even if they did their jobs remotely for years. Some are burning leave just to avoid being marked AWOL. 🤦♀️
How many times can RFK Jr say "I had nothing to do with this" today?
We need a game for this. Anyone tracking this?

Lufthansa announced the cancellation of 20,000 flights to save fuel.
Routes from Frankfurt am Main and Munich will be removed, while flights from Zurich, Vienna, and Brussels will be expanded. Flights to and from Rome will also be reduced.

I overlapped with Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson during law school. Although I did not know here personally, I knew many people (of all political stripes) who knew her well. Even back in 1994, she was regarded as one of the smartest people on campus. (Unfortunately, so was Ted Cruz).
RFK Jr claimed to have never heard of the Kid Rock video. You know the one in which we all saw too much of kid Rock and RFK Jr's bodies. The same video posted on HHS social channels. Say what? Dementia?
Always brilliant #Auspol

Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.
Good morning, Asia. While you were sleeping, one of our most-read stories reported that dozens of ships have managed to circumvent the blockade since it began — despite Donald Trump declaring it a ‘tremendous success’. ft.trib.al/9C3Xw4h
Donald Trump and Republicans have tried to rig the 2026 midterms. Today in Virginia, voters sent them a clear message: The power is with the people.
