Finished home dashboard. All self hosted and doesn't rely on creepy, exploitative, spying big tech.

RPi Monitor with a VESA mounted RPi 5 running magicmirror.builders with FOSS modules and a custom module I made so my wife and I can manage tasks from a little Go app.

One thing I genuinely miss is an app that collects my emails AND RSS feeds in one place. I know that Thunderbird kind of does this on desktop, but there is no Thunderbird for iOS as of yet. And even if there was, what are the chances it’d do exactly that?

Seems like a missed oppt. on Apple’s side.

We migrated our site to Eleventy and increased performance by 24% | Etch Software Studio How choosing the right tool for the job led to faster load times and fewer dependencies.

"Dan Webb wrote about how he and his team migrated their site from Next.js to Eleventy and improved performance by 24%. But who knows, maybe he’s just deep in Big Static’s pocket" - Bytes

If you are interested in trying out Valibot to see how much it impacts the bundle size of your application, you can paste your Zod schemas into our website to convert them to Valibot: valibot.dev/guides/migra...

I think there is a misunderstanding. While Zod v4 Mini is much smaller than Zod v3, the bundle size is still ~80% bigger compared to @valibot.dev. Example:

Feature creep is like that friend who orders extra toppings on a pizza—always adds to the cost, and somehow you end up with pineapple on there too. 🍕💻

Just curious, but did you consider running a honojs server and using react as template engine setup?

A Decade of SolidJS As of today, it has been 7 years since I open-sourced SolidJS. It wasn't for noble reasons. I wasn't...

I opened-sourced @solidjs.com 7 years ago today. But I've been working on it longer.

Today I felt like reflecting on this journey.

Discord "Downloading update 3 of 7 ..." indicator

Discord "Downloading update 3 of 7 ..." indicator

I find it aggravating how Discord insists on downloading large updates seemingly every time I reopen it - especially when I'm on a mobile hotspot. 😒

Why no delayed background updates?

And of course, Discord steals focus 2-3x at unpredictable times when starting up. Just a little extra irritation.
