The best way to prevent this predictable pattern is to share power from the beginning. Because whatever you start at a small scale is what will be repeated at a large scale, too.
It just needs to be said again and again...
Building an organization driven by and centered around one person is not a better way forward. It's the same.
It might be okay for a while. But the bigger you build, the more power and influence are gonna mess you up.
If you’re gonna use Genesis 1-3 to support a traditional male-female gender binary, then you gotta take the rest of it literally and at face value too, 6 day creation with talking snake and all.
I don’t make the rules. 🤷🏻♂️
We’re rethinking denominations and creating a more flexible, relational support structure for ministers and ministries committed to the work of love, justice, and inclusion.

Rage Against the Machine is a good listen today.

It hurts (and boggles my mind) to see Evangelical denominations jump to discipline and kick out clergy for officiating a same-sex wedding but not for racism, sexism, Christian nationalism, greed, etc.
I try not to yell. 😜
Sounds right!
☹️ So sorry. That sounds rough
Funny how it works but just seems like the pastors who do the most finger pointing and yelling about “false teachers” are usually themselves the false teachers. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s very hard to love when you’re trying to win.
As a newbie here, my three wishes for @bsky.app:
1. Longer character limit (Threads' 500 was great)
2. Editing
3. Drafts
Any chance? Please?

Most traditional denominations are in decline.
Non-denominationalism is on the rise.
What if there are better options for ministers and ministries than being dependent on a centralized hierarchy OR being independent with no support or accountability?
My wife reads the coolest books
I'd be more than glad to talk! It's why I'm here! 😁
I'll message you
For any chance at a better future, the Church must shift from a hierarchical mindset to a network one.
This will require challenging many underlying assumptions about "church" and learning a whole new set of skills for how we relate to one another.
Awesome! Thank you!
4/4 I also speak, consult, and facilitate for churches and organizations exploring change and innovation.
I'm here to learn and connect with others who long for the Church to look and act more like the way of Jesus.
I post mostly about church, spirituality, systems, and occasional dad jokes.

1/4 Hi, I’m Eugene, and I'm passionate about the need for systemic change and innovation, especially in the Church!
I wear many hats, but the common thread is designing and cultivating new and better systems for a more loving, just, and inclusive world.
