LEE CRONIN’S THE MUMMY is a valiant attempt at reinventing a horror yarn that was originally little more than a repackaged take on Dracula, only for all its promising groundwork - including some genuinely gnarly moments - to unravel in a woefully generic third act of repetitive demon-related tedium.

I lost a decade of film review shows
I encounter this a lot whenever I negatively review a historical/war movie. "But this was such an important event! So many people lost their lives doing this!"...uh huh. Movie still sucked though.
Gentle reminder:
Just because your movie is about something important, it doesn’t make your movie important…or good.

Coincidentally, I just revisited Russell’s ALTERED STATES last night and that is some glorious cosmic religious scifi right there
Had the great pleasure of interviewing Taiwanese animator Joe Hsieh earlier this week ahead of #HKIFF about his love of horror, his collaborations with Yonfan, preference for hand-drawn animation over A.I. and how his mother became his biggest influence.
