I with you on this one Mike. Worlds most solid Sonic game.
I got Sonic 3 and Knuckles as best retro game and turn your brain off game
Kid Icarus Uprising the hidden 3DS gem? ๐
If i do run through the 343 games, ill be sure to discuss my updated opinions
They didnt feel nearly as satisfying as the alien races to fight, but the idea has potential, but I need to play 5 again if im gonna have a real weighted opinion
Like I want to fight flesh and bone enemies and COOL looking robots that break and malfunction when you shoot at them.
Side tangent but I hate the uninspired ass robots Microsoft makes to fight for the games they develop. They did the same thing with Gears of War and I hated it
This is a common complaint but I didnt understand wtf was going on 5 enough to nearly give a shit about any of the side characters because it feels like the game is assuming I know who they are. After shooting a bunch of guardians I got bored and havent played it since I was a teen.
Even if they were long ass cutscenes like Metal Gear, I wouldn't mind, just so long as the essentials are in game
I think thats actually most people's problem with 343, I liked the Bungie games because I didn't have to read to the books to understand the plot and all the important aspects, I wish instead of having essential lore in the books, that the story was told through the games so I can play the events.
That sounds like a great game but, it would be a bit experimental to be playing through a gloomy massacre from start to finish, and would probably be a hard sell to new players and investors. However its fun to imagine what that would look like.
Yeah I would have loved the opportunity to play as a Marine
On the other hand, I can see why they disregarded the lore, in Reach your not made to feel expendable, and im sure the developers wanted you to feel as powerful as 117, however a aspect of ODST i did like was playing as expendable soldiers, and actually wished they expanded that feeling morem
Continuity has always been a weird thing in Halo, where studios disregarded past things that have been established, or heavily supplement it. I can see how it's frustrating especially since that aspect of the lore would have probably made Reach more interesting.
Im curious what your issues are with the Reach story. I think its a solid story, but I find most of the characters to have shallow development, but it has its highlights and cool character moments when they did play cutscenes.
I remember it was around a shallow wide pond? Around a crashed Marine ship?
I do think Reach is just a weee, overated compared to the Bungie Trilogy, but to me I just see it as a more expansive spin-off. Like a bigger version of what ODST was. And seeing it from that perspective its a pretty impressive game.
My issues with that game are less story and more gameplay
Nice achievement, im dont remember much but i remember I stopped around the part the main villain sent this Elite Hunter Brute my way
I dropped it close to launch, and thats a interesting way of looking at it, i had a blast with ODST, with the split gameplay of open hub with collectibles, and than more structured missions
True, BRs, and Carbine rifles were always the safest bet
I dropped infinite cause I got the same bored feeling id get from Far Cry games. Though I did really enjoy the gameplay, artstyle, and enemies. I wish that game had way more time for polish.
My perspective is mostly a campaign one, though your insight is interesting.
While I'll agree 3's story had contrivinces and was ultimately not nearly as good as 2's, Ill state the music, atmosphere, setting designs, and gunplay were close to top notch as you could get while feeling balanced. I think I will play Halo 4 so I can have a more fully formed opinion on it.
I dont understand the Glaze of 4 compared to 3, I think 3 was a amazing game, the sandbox combat of 1 was fully realized in that game.
I played a decent bit of Infinite, while the gameplay was good it was lacking good story, settings, and set pieces which is a huge part of Halo
Im afraid playing Halo 4 is gonna ruin the sense of closure I got from playing 3. 4 has its strengths from what I remember as a kid but Bungie Halo is just different and gets worse into 5 and infinite
