But I mostly find it funny that US people think they have to warn the European football fans about the state of the US democracy as if this thing never took place in non democratic countries before 😬
Depends on the counterfactual I guess. Not sure there will be more or less boycott compared to those other years.
Almost every time I go swimming I want to start a fight with someone. Like, how difficult can it be to understand how this works???
I see a lot of posts about how people should boycott the men‘s FIFA championship this year that is (partly) in the US. I am afraid people are vastly overestimating the fans‘ willingness to boycott these events. It was hosted in Russia and Qatar in recent years, and most people didn’t seem to care.
Armageddon is terrible, but our only other option was diversity trainings at work.
I avoid white tops because chances are good they won’t survive lunch 🍝
Kennst du Lotta aus der Krachmacherstraße?
lol a perfect depiction of how women doing more and men doing the bare minimum
You are aware that there are people on this planet who actually eat it? Would be interesting to see whether this is more likely in contexts where it’s called something with cake in the local language

The Class Gap in Career Progression: Evidence from US Academia
Class is rarely a focus of research or DEI in elite US occupations.
Evidence suggests it should be: we find a large class gap in at least one occupation - tenure-track academia...🧵
Also you can learn everything about differences in German vs Scandinavian culture here: People in the train here (Swedish/Norwegian) are visibly annoyed but everyone remains silent. If this was a German train three people would have yelled at them immediately
People always complain about the young people‘s behavior in the public but I am sitting in the train next to two women in retirement age who play each other their favorite music on their phones on speaker

While German trains stop running with the slightest amount of snow on the tracks, Norwegian trains just keep going with snow inside the train

What would flyout season be without significant snow/winter chaos at some major airports? Best combination is of course with strikes at airports/railway, at least candidates this year are lucky in that regard

And this is an extended work trip, we just had our annual joint seminar with the Frisch Centre and the @uio.no Economics department here. Always great to see what my fantastic colleagues are working on (and to go skiing with them) 🥰
It was not so bad actually. Definitely much less freezing than downhill skiing which I did yesterday 🥶

Went cross country skiing at -25°C today and I’m not sure I’ll ever feel more Norwegian than that
