This is, or should be, a big deal -- Ann Telnaes, an absolute legend, quitting WaPo due to censorship of a cartoon criticizing billionaires

The Syrians who can’t go home In August, I was bundled into the back of a pickup while working with a charity supporting Syrian refugees in the Beqaa Valley.

Great piece by my colleague @bessantdavies.bsky.social on his harrowing ordeal of being detained in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley while doing humanitrian work www.spectator.co.uk/article/the-...

I remember the Syria coverage dragging on for years. It’s strange to see the brutal Assad regime being toppled on a Saturday night with no real resistance & far less excitable coverage than we had back in 2011-12. Echoes of the way the Ceausescus were toppled in Romania during its revolution.

People are leaving Twitter because it’s not fun anymore and no one is obligated to be on a platform they don’t enjoy.

It’s not rocket science.

Just deleted my Twitter account. Gutted. I’d made so many friends there, and it was vital to my career, but Elon Musk destroyed it both morally and practically. For several months I’d kept the account to lure people here, and now I’m done. I’m so glad Bluesky is thriving - thanks to you all 🙏

I would definitely suggest the brilliant @salhachimi.bsky.social to be added to this starter pack.

An Improbable Psychiatrist by Rebecca Lawrence review – doctor turned patient A brave memoir from a psychiatrist with severe mental illness that describes a failing system from within

“She has some ineffective CBT. But - ‘I don’t need strategies for tomorrow, I need help with what my father did when I was a child.’

A strong unintended argument for a system-wide replacement of over-medication and CBT with trauma therapy”

Twitter didn't gain relevance by being the biggest platform, it gained relevancy through the quality of the content and individuals. The main goal for everyone here should be to encourage global defender, media, and establishment accounts to transition to #BlueSky. That'll provide legitimacy.
