While GDevelop has added generative ai features, I don't touch them at all. Know that this is all human made.

Don't worry, I'm avoiding generative ai like the plague. I'm lucky to have a background in art and am stubborn enough to learn everything I need to make music for it. Plus, I'm using GDevelop since it's mostly menu based and drag and drop to actually make the game since I genuinely suck at coding.

Back to making assets for PlayPals Playcare. I'm not going to rush myself. As a solo dev and a baby dev I'm doing everything myself and understand it's going to take time to get everything together even before really putting it all together. I am working on other games as well for practice #solodev

Jumping back into game art stuff and I forgot how much of a pain working out asset sizes was for 2D work. ๐Ÿ˜… The bullets were a little big. #gamedev #solodev #indiedev

Messing around with some bullet mechanics. It's been a bit since I worked on any of my games, life stuff, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. #gamedev #indiedev #solodev

I'm tempted to make all of my games as cartoony and stylized as possible now in spite of Nvidia with their gen ai filter. I know I lean more towards a comic style anyway and haven't fully given 3D games a go, but I'm definitely aiming for as stylized as possible now.

I can try all I want to aim for a specific sound for my game music...but it always comes back to the 90s vibes that give Hover for Windows 95 or the 99 Sonic movie soundtrack vibes. It's just the sound of the 90s. I mean, I am a 90s kid, it makes sense. But still. The vibe is a part of me, man.

*have I meant to say *have not havs in the main post. Touchscreen keyboards are not my friend ๐Ÿ™ƒ

It's also a lot of similar vibes to various Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advanced games soundtracks. Once a 90s kid always a 90s kid. The music in the games I grew up with shaped my taste in game soundtracks I guess.

Was trying to make some looping tracks for my games earlier and I was liking them and thinking, "I know this vibe. Where havs I heard this kind of thing before?" And it hit me, it's the same vibe as Hover. That Windows 95 hover craft capture the flag game. The music in that was a vibe. #gamedev

Meant to make a looping track for my game, and ended up making a track I ended up jamming to instead. More than likely won't be in the game, but I like it.

Now that I'm officially moving forward with PlayPals Playcare, I'm jumping back into the old art I was making for it. This will be used for more animatic style cutscenes. Let's go! #gameart #indiedev #solodev #gamedev

Almost done with the cleanup version of the PlayPals Playcare logo. Just need to color in the characters and we're good to go. #indiedev #solodev #gameart #gamedev #digitalart

I regret jand lettering now instead of just looking up free fonts for the title ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ƒ Doing this on a regular drawing tablet instead of the iPad was an unnecessary challenge. But I recently tried to use the old Wacom One I have and killed my shoulders and back since my desk setup isn't the best for it

Just so you can get a better idea of the game, PlayPals Playcare is a franchise of security toys that bought an old chain of daycares to put emphasis on how reliable the toys can be to keep kids safe, obviously still with adult supervision of daycare workers.

Back to making a cleaned up version of the sign for my game PlayPals Playcare. Hand lettering on an iPad vs a regular drawing tablet is so much easier, and the iPad is where I first drew this. At least now it'll be a lot cleaner and I can use it for more now. #indiedev #solodev #gamedev #gameart

When you realize you drew the logo for your game as part of the lineart for the building in game and not as a separate image... At least I'll have a clean version now. Time to trace my own work, let's go! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ƒ #solodev #indiedev #art #digitalart

Excuse the loud keys. But I kust wanted to show the small bit I've thrown together so far for PlayPals Playcare. It's just the start, but I'm already excited to see it all come together. #gamedev #solodev #indiedev #games #gaming #gamedevelopment

Also, don't worry, it will all be one game. I've said this in the past and I'll keep saying it. I don't plan on releasing the game in separate chapters. If there are chapters, they'll be to separate acts in the same game. I also plan to keep as much main story as part of the experience, not hidden

I know I was testing 3D for PlayPals Playcare, but I feel like I still have too much to learn about 3D modeling before I feel comfortable maki9ng anything 3D game wise. So I started putting together a 2D game. It's gonna be close to my original plans for it. #gamedev #indiedev #solodev

They literally told me I was spoiling the game when at that point ch 3 had only been out for a few days and the big Ollie reveal didn't even happen that chapter

Like, there's homage and then there's beat for beat down to the opening speech and its pacing. #poppyplaytime

With all of the Poppy Playtime talk happening it's reminding me of when I was watching a chapter 3 stream and someone yelled at me in the chat for calling Ollie "Atlas". I was literally just making a Bioshock joke, especially since that whole chapter opening was Bioshock's opening beat for beat.

While I know I'm still starting out, I keep reminding myself of that feeling I had while watching the Game Awards last year. It's one of those "when you know you'll know" moments when something feels right for you. I don't anticipate ever getting to the Game Awards, but it made me want to make games

This blizzard is ridiculous. Sounded like something fell but I don't see anything. Wouldn't be surprised if something outside toppled over. One of the fences already broke and a tree fell on the fence in the side garden. Not exactly a relaxing snow day.

4/4 I honestly am so used to using Vivaldi and not having these issues that I forget about the built in ad blocker often. And again, I only started having this issue yesterday. It's been playing just fine this whole past year since I've started using Vivaldi. This is just annoying.

3/4 That got me thinking of everything I've been hearing happening with Youtube and the Brave browser. I've had the occasional issues with Vivaldi's ad block and twitch, so I'm no stranger to adding exceptions. Sure enough, I added Youtube and it works fine now.

1/4 You all are probably reading this already guessing what's happening, but again, I understandably thought it was residual glitching from when Youtube crashed. I've had no problem with Vivaldi and watching videos until yesterday. So I tried another browser and it was fine. Everything played.
