I just use mine 😅 but it probably isn’t featureful enough for most folks. Mesen is the usually the most loved, not Linux-native but works well enough in Wine.

I really ought to add a version of smolnes with audio support…
Winamp+smolnes💜
No, but I was definitely inspired by ioccc! I did a previous one where I actually wrote a little about that: binji.github.io/posts/pokegb/
sadly not, I completely missed it this year 🥲 but also as it is currently written it violates a few of the ioccc size rules, and I'm not sure I can shrink it enough to make it fit...
I recently added a list of projects using smolnes to my github page, if you know of any others please let me know so I can add them!
The full source code of smolnes. The source code has been formatted to look like a NES controller.
SMOLNES, a NES emulator in <5000 bytes of C, that can play mapper 0/1/2/3/4/7 games. Shaped like a controller of course 😎 github.com/binji/smolnes
(originally from 2022, updated recently to be even smaller)
Glad it helped! Over on the emudev discord it’s pretty mich the first thing suggested when starting a new emulator. They’re not perfect, but definitely help.
Looks good! You may want to take a look at the SingleStepTests repo too, it has exact cycle timings for multiple 6502 variants, and 10000 tests per opcode

Rice to meet you! 🌾
Lead designer @benjapenguin.bsky.social cooked up this step-by-step demo showcasing how to make egg fried rice with Voxile’s crafting system. What should he try making next?
(Apologies to anyone watching this before lunch...)

You’re the new sheriff in Willow Creek, an idyllic Americana town in Voxile. Charming place, really—if you can ignore the cult activity, bad pasta, and jogger in briefs. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #IndieGameDev

Oh and it’s a 25k executable on my machine (dynamically linked)
Sure but SDL doesn’t do much but put pixels in a window, it’s not like they have a make gameboy emulator function 😂
POKEGB, a gameboy emulator that plays only pokemon blue/red, in ~8200 characters of C++ shaped like 3 pokeballs.
(from 2021, now in bsky!)

Our level editor in our #indiegame Voxile lets you build worlds and quests yourself - something like Mario Maker meets Skyrim with voxel art. If you ever wanted to create NPCs and quests, check out our demo!

Pretty proud of the level editor we made, as well as the timelapse feature that allows for making these videos 😄
I wouldn't rule it out, but we're focusing on steam releases for now
The Demo for the game I've been working on for two years is available now! store.steampowered.com/app/2283580/...
woke up and realized that the line "i guess that's so we don't have a pot" from Sonny and Cher's "I got you babe", is actually "I guess that's so, we don't have a pot" as in "a pot to piss in" w.r.t. the previous line "before it's earned, our money's all been spent" glad we got that all sorted out
Search/categories on modarchive.org works well, shouldn't be too hard to find your old faves! 🎧
