thinking abt this bc there is currently a controversy on tiktok where people are misreading and spreading a statistic from this article, saying that 62 million men were either in or interested in a telegram chat about drugging and raping their female partners when really it was like 1000 people max

Sucks ass to get halfway through an article and realize it's AI and then have to decide whether to trust literally any of the sources it claims to be citing
You used to be able to make one trip to zara after arriving in a foreign country and live off it for ten months. Now I got loose threads yelling at me after TOUCHING a new skirt. We were never supposed to live like this.
All this discourse is making me think of is the single best item of travel clothing Iβve ever owned, an offensively cheap fast fashion sheath dress that lasted me through two years of regular wear in europe and died an ignominious death in that lost luggage in the Caucasus. RIP to a real one.

Illustration of 8 animal themed magic swords
Some magical swords. Some highly ineffective but look cool enough.
No one is allowed to laugh at this until they end up halfway across the world without their luggage and have to improv a whole trip with airport clothes. This is useful information!!!
In my latest for Playboy, I wrote about meat, masculinity, and "boy kibble," the trend of men eating a pack of unseasoned ground beef for dinner. I argue it's the perfect meal to illustrate the isolation and nihilism in our ultra-capitalist system www.playboy.com/read/lifesty...
without lionizing Leo XIV too much, i think people are brought up short by encountering someone in a position of authority who seems to have commitments to stable concepts of right and wrong that supersede class loyalty to other powerful people (which is largely the same as what Dan is saying)
The new Alamo Drafthouse ordering interface is hostile architecture
Whatever you buy, the idea is to no longer make Amazon the mindless default. "It's so easy, I have Prime, I just click a button"
Add friction, even if it's just making yourself wait a day before clicking BUY.
Don't spend there out of habit.
Does gmail want to take legal responsibility for what that "Tab to improve" popup is doing to my blood pressure?
Perhaps Magyar's most important promise, and the one that certainly resonates with voters: "never again a country without consequences!"

Big news! ARB's first fundraiser is officially live! We're shooting for the very modest goal of $1k, with lots of stretch goals in mind. Your support is of course appreciated, and any help in spreading the word would be wonderful!

This. I am watching in real time as my doc student lose basic reading comprehension skills and the frustration tolerance it takes to understand and metabolize complex ideas, which they now insist is an inefficient use of their time. Words are all just a jumble on the page.
i have to agree entirely with femi here: for me, *long-form* reading--not an essay i can crank through in 10-15 and go rush to poast about--but a book that forces me into the perspective of another for an extended period, forces me to see that thought developed, is an immensely valuable discipline
It's been a year since I visited this one
what next? what, are we gonna provide *roads* for the wealthy too? gonna have health inspectors keep contaminants out of their groceries? are we just gonna have gutters and sewer systems around rich people's homes?

a black and white edit that reads "transgenderism is for lovers." below the text are two cats cuddling each other and looking at the viewer
a black and white edit that reads "don't want to see trans people? pluck out your eyes!" in the middle is a hand holding a scorpion by the stinger. between the pincers of the scorpion is a human eyeball.
an edit that reads "if i cannot find trans joy i shall create it". the text is in a black rectangle. to the left of the text is another black rectangle with a stalk of bearded iris in it. the iris is overlaid with a purple to green gradient.
an edit that reads "the transsexual must always seek to liberate the other for they fight the same fight!" beside the text is a clump of dandelions with exposed roots.

a medieval manuscript style digital illustration. text at the bottom reads "god blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason he made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine: so that humanity might share in the act of creation. - julian k jarboe." in the center of the piece stands a trans person with top surgery scars, body hair, and facial hair. they are nude, with a red cloth partly draped over their body, and they hold a loaf of bread in one hand and a cup of wine in the other. in the dark blue background behind their head is a sun/halo and 5 stars, and on either side of them are stalks of wheat. there is an arched golden frame around them, and around this is an illuminated border of grapevines.
i had the idea for this piece last tdov but it didn't quite come together until now π₯π· quote by Julian K Jarboe

Like, normally Archie Goodwin doesn't randomly manifest in my home to make a nominally uneventful reading experience hell on earth. But sometimes..... that bitch does.
