Bluebells at Worfield.
A carpet of bluebells in Chempshill Coppice, Worfield. The fragrance was almost overpowering as I followed a footpath through this woodland near Bridgnorth, which I make a point of visiting every spring. Half the world’s bluebells are to be found in the UK, with... #Shropshire
traditional names including... cuckoo’s boots, wood hyacinth, lady’s nightcap and witches’ thimbles.

Deer on the Wrekin
Do you ever get the feeling that you’re being watched? I was on my way up to the summit of the Wrekin when I got the distinct impression that I wasn’t alone. As I turned around I spotted a couple of deer who eyed me up suspiciously before running off. I followed them very cautiously and #Shropshire
came across a group of deer grazing in the early morning sunshine. Then it was just a case of biding my time until they moved into position and I got my shot.

perfect shot. I also talked about providing pictures for the illustrated version of A.E.Housman’s A Shropshire Lad. It was a great afternoon and a real pleasure to chat to so many members and guests.
A big thank you to #Shropshire Postcard Club for their warm welcome at this month’s meeting. I spoke about my life as a professional landscape photographer, sharing tales of ridiculously early starts, being chased by cows and standing in the wind and rain for hours on end while waiting for that...
Follow me on a walk along the southern edge of the Stiperstones, taking in views of Nipstone, The Rock and the surrounding countryside. It was a cloudy and very windy day, but the sun came out after a couple of hours and I finally got my shot. #Shropshire

Moreton Corbet
A twisting country lane that’s a pathway into history - this is sunrise at Moreton Corbet Castle, near Shawbury. I could hear linnets singing their hearts out in the tree above me as I set up my tripod in the early morning light. The original fortified house on this site was replaced... #Shropshire
by a medieval castle, which in turn gave way to an Elizabethan mansion. Sadly, the work was never completed and today Moreton Corbet survives as an empty yet romantic shell.

Clun
It’s been a cool and blustery Easter, so here’s a picture of the blossom at Clun taken just over a week ago. I've photographed this scene many times over the years and always try to come up with something different. I like this shot as the blossom provides a perfect frame for the bridge. #Shropshire

Stiperstones
Landscape photography is a waiting game, as I was reminded earlier this week. There was plenty of blue sky and sunshine on my drive down to the Stiperstones, but the clouds rolled in as soon as I arrived. I then had to wait for more than two hours until the sun came out again and I... #Shropshire
On this occasion, I occupied myself by listening to lambs bleating in the fields and watching as red kites soared in the sky overhead.
was able to get this shot. I was standing at the southern end of the Stiperstones and looking towards The Rock, which you can see picked out in the distance. Whenever I’m waiting for a picture, the time goes by more quickly than you might imagine and an hour can feel like 20 minutes.

Have you been to Harley when the daffodils are out? I always make a point of visiting at this time of the year. Harley, near Wenlock Edge, is one of the so-called Thankful Villages, which saw all its men return home safely from the First World War. #Shropshire

Church Preen
Standing guard throughout the centuries - here’s the ancient yew tree at Church Preen, with Wenlock Edge seen in the distance. This #Shropshire giant measures around 23ft in circumference and it’s said that 21 people once squeezed inside its hollow trunk. The tree is at least 1,500 years old and...
stands in the churchyard of St John the Baptist. It's one of my favourite ancient yews in Shropshire, and on a glorious day of sunshine and birdsong I was able to enjoy a view that has remained unchanged for generations.
