Fishers’ participation is essential to strengthen the development of mitigation tools, protect marine species, and promote more sustainable fishing.
We would like to thank OPP7-Burela for its always kind willingness to host this collaborative work between the sector and REDUCE researchers.
Our colleagues at USC held another working session with the owners and captains of the OPP7-Burela long-distance pelagic fleet. We are conducting individual interviews with fishers to understand how #bycatch affects fishing operations, crew safety, and the economic performance of the fleet.
