NEW POST: A-level completion rates
We calculate the proportion of A-level students who complete their chosen qualification, and explore how this varies by subject and prior attainment.

In our latest CEPEO Working Paper, @drsamsims.bsky.social studies the effects of an intervention to improve A level physics uptake among female students by countering gender stereotypes. Read the results here:

At least you didn't glue any digits together, that would have messed with your congratulatory handshake.
I think they're fully immersed in their sound engineer/production role. Also recent radical haircut, so no scope for Viking warrior plaits.
SKPT has massively improved my confidence. I have a much deeper understanding now of the content, which will make my teaching clearer

Happy Friday!
My daughter's got a single out today with The Pennydrops. Please give it a listen and share.
It is folky and catchy and a bit exciting.

With hindsight, my daughter playing videogames when she 'should have been revising' seems like it wasn't such a bad idea.
The earlier EEF research is discussed in the paper (and the recent follow up). There's always a tension between sample size and having tight control over adminstration of research trials remotely.
Some similarities, but data analysis by UCL education neuroscience team shows that the findings are *statistically significant*. We co-created a video resource that allowed tight control over the spaced learning input across schools and could be administered in a single science lesson.
We have tested with students, aged 14-16, but the approach and resource could lend itself to improving subject knowledge for those teaching physics out of field
π― 'we need to build a bigger table' then they wouldn't have to hold equipment, and sources, in their bare hands!
