I borrowed Izzet Prowess for Standard, and found out that morale has in fact NOT improved since I last played the format 😂

Also, there's a system at my LGS where every week a booster is added to a pot which is awarded when someone wins two FNMs in a row: no one had repeated in a while, so... 📈

Counterpoint: I use em dashes with abandon and will not let "AI" steal them from me. I was overusing them first and will continue to do so long after "AI" is a crater in our financial system, or our merciless overlords, or both

A Crown of Dominion fresh off a gem pack

A Crown of Dominion fresh off a gem pack

Well, I lost in the armory finals, but gotta say this was decent consolation 😄😍looking forward to flipping this beauty for the runeblade cards I'm still missing #fabtcg

If you can stand the most eye-bleedingly ugly UI, there's Cockatrice. It's not automated like Talishar, but does the job once you get used to it. Might want to ask friends to play with you, I haven't tried playing against strangers so can't make promises there.

Trying to *not* check the "I have used AI" box in my thesis is like a stroll through a minefield with how many common applications now have AI functions by default, starting with Word which is pretty much the mandated program for writing the thesis.

The AI craze is just... psychotic.

Even at my school, every f*cking email I get now seems to advertise AI in some form. Every workshop, project, internship ad, *everything*.

I understand that they want to make sure they keep with the times, but the UNCRITICALNESS of it is what gets to me.

Alright one last thing about LL for a bit.

Dash IO is the perfect example as to why the 1.5x Multiplier is not great IMO.
Shes having her time in the sun as BDIF and is basically halfway out the door now.
Shes gotten 303 points this season; 100 of which are only because of the multiplier

The game industry’s obsession with graphics is so funny because every other year there will be some breakout hit called “Stick Figure Mansion” or some shit that outsells 90% of the market and runs on a toaster

Reminds me of several eras of Magic's Modern format: very diverse, but with uninteractive play patterns best described as "two ships passing in the night" ie. "I try to do my busted thing faster than you can do yours."

Good reminder why diversity should not be the only metric of format health.

Flesh and Blood has one of the best game systems on the market, and one of the very few that really differentiates itself from the big 3. The players love it, organized play is thriving, Silver Age looks good... just don't ruin it all by insisting on catering to investor leeches, please.

Easy step to make the game 5 times better is to make the legendaries' pull rate 5 times as frequent. There should be a legendary per box AT LEAST.

And my god don't get me started on Fables.

Those kinds of pull rates should be reserved for premium treatments, not base versions of the cards.

LSS really needs to get it into their head that Flesh and Blood is too expensive and needs MEANINGFUL reprints that increase supply and decrease price. Compendium looked like a really good step forward, but the awful pull rates wasted that opportunity.

Legendary rarity is a huge mistake.

I'm saying this as someone who loves standard and particularly enjoys the rotational nature of it:

The pace of new card release and the scale of collector hype has made it so financially untenable to play the game the way I used to

The release of the next #fabtcg Mechanologist won't be affected by the RAM shortage.

In the most shocking twist so far, Jarl joins the A tier!

Jarl has minigames that give interesting and meaningful decisions in how to play his hands, he can distrupt the opponent in unique ways and actually does proactive things instead of infinite blockslop.

Puffin was fine, but maybe I was expecting more from her? Maybe it's because her ships really put the agency in the opponent's hands, so the decisions are less interesting on the Puffin side. Or maybe I'm just salty that I lost to Verdance on this deck too lol.

Tuffnut is a fun meme, but not a particularly fun or interesting deck to play. There's some cool plays you can make but mostly you're just going through a couple extra steps for 13-14 vanilla value a turn.

RKO was a positive surprise! Especially with the new cards he's pretty cool and manages to have a unique playstyle for a brute. I enjoy the midrangey games he gets, but boy is it miserable to play if you ever fall behind in life.

I got to play Pioneer yesterday, and I miss the format so much. Getting to play another Pioneer PT with some build of Sacrifice would be such a dream, why'd they have to do their best comp format dirty like that man 😭

Valda wasn't especially *fun*, but she was a great learning experience because of how numbers-based she is. Since I've gravitated towards some less conventional heroes (*cough*Vynnset*cough*) from the start, I am bit shaky on the the value fundamentals and playing decks like this is good practice.

That makes sense, thanks for elaborating!

It might be that Marlynn just isn't my jam, but these are ultimately kneejerk reactions off a trial sample size of games. I'll try to keep your comment in mind the next time I try and who knows, maybe we'll make a ranger out of me yet 😁

Good points, I probably didn't give those aspects enough merit 🤝 But my issue with her was mostly that I felt her gameplay was very one-dimensional, where you just always try to send one tall attack (at least with the cannon build). So since you mentioned different gameplans, I'm curious of those!

I also think that focusing on a smaller spread of classes along with a few core talents would allow the designers to build more unique heroes and playstyles within those classes, which would also help your cards to stay relevant since there's more options in your class if someone LLs. 4/4

The risk is that you end up in a situation where each class only gets a real support injection every two years or even less frequently, which then starts getting frustrating for players who want new cards for their class/heroes. Talents obviously add even more permutations you need to consider. 3/

Especially if they keep doing the 2-2 splits for draftable sets, you're supporting a max of 6 classes a year. Of course PEN-style supplementary sets and armory decks can add a little more, but especially Armory decks and mastery packs should be more for reprints than expanding the card pool. 2/

Ahhh that would've been a lot of fun, but sadly it's too late night for me! 😭

But I can try to elaborate here; short of it is that I fear LSS is spreading themselves too thin with how many different "factions" they try to support while adding more pretty frequently as of late. 1/

Completely ending support for at least a couple of classes and a few talents would be hugely beneficial for the game in the long run, even if it would cause a lot of backlash in the short term.

I quite liked Maxx, and I LOVED resolving Nitro Mechanoid (at least until I realized that Jarl specifically can happily blow it up with Frozen to Death 😭).

It's possible he could be higher with some builds, but I didn't find *quite* the same depth and flexibility with him as I did with DIO.

Mark Rosewater has famously differentiated between "interesting" (intellectually stimulating) and "fun" (emotionally satisfying).

Marlynn manages to do absolutely nothing "interesting" whatsoever, BUT sending gigantic evasive arrows with distruption every turn does feel "fun" for a time.
