You light me to bed with your light, and
never a night but I am
prey to ghostly visions—a tenderness

not usual in my family. The lion
pauses a certain space of time, amid
a sea of divers thoughts, choppy half-

desires, memoranda of search
and hunger, very peculiar
ideas of the world.

In 1953, cartoonist and animator Paul Campani invented the iconic “Omino coi baffi” (little guy with a mustache) for the equally iconic Bialetti Moka pot. The character is a caricature of Renato Bialetti, son of founder Alfredo Bialetti

While we're at it:

Hey literary agents, my query letter literally ends with "In my wildest dreams, the book gets a shout-out on Inside the NBA and inspires Charles Barkley to start a book club." If this sounds up your alley, let's talk. 🤘🏼🏀

Cornelius Eady reading at JHU on April 26 at 2.

Am I connected to Baltimore people on here? My dear friend Susannah and her family have sponsored an annual poetry reading for years, now, in honor of the tragic loss of her brother so long ago...

This year it's the amazing Cornelius Eady, whose Brutal Imagination still haunts me.

If I were you I’d get an unlisted number,
then think about growing up, just a little.
I can’t tell you which divining bones to choose, that’s your job,
and when you come close, I wish it was all around,

around over me. The jingle of your hat comforts me,
confirms me in my worst aspects. I shall never be anything but a clown,
now. And there’s so much work to do,
so many puzzles to ignore.

Kathryn Cowles’ THE STRANGE WONDROUS WORKS OF ELEANOR ELEANOR is truly one of the most beautiful literary forms I’ve read this year. Its subtitle is “A Catalog.”

why the New Yorker publishes the brilliant Hanif Abdurraqib and then does not put his name in the social media post about his essay is absolutely beyond me, but anyway, the important thing here is that you should always read Hanif

ON THE SUBLIME

They loved these things. Giraffe, they loved giraffe. They loved the concept of the tapir. They loved him, wholly unnamed. They loved competence and they loved the dark metallic stapler. They loved to trace the trajectory of the armadillo. They loved to speak of plankton. They also loved the fog.

When people are like, "Where is the money for X going to come from?" I'm like, the police budget. The money you are looking for is in the police budget. It's in police contracts (many of which mandate an annual increase--PVD's does) & police pensions, but it's also in things like the supply budget
