What a delight to learn that most people aren't in fact raging LGBTQ-phobic shitweasels

A defining feature of late capitalism.
Puffy, pink, cotton candy clouds. In the bottom right of the frame there is a single utility pole with power lines angling away into the distance. A copse of trees stretches their leaves skyward in the bottom left.
An old, one eyed black lab walks on a rural road, which twists away into the distance. The sky is a vibrant orange and the shrubs, trees, and bushes are alight with the oranges and pinks. Against the sunset, a few, scraggly pine trees and scrub oaks are backlit and black.
This creature,
whose steps I have followed for twelve years,
is all the peace I am able to find
on some weary days.
ADHD hyperfocus - I may have gotten carried away….
After playing with porcelain for a season, it was lovely to make a huge planter with dark stoneware.
I am often asked why I don’t sell my pottery (I tend to give it to friends, students, silent auctions for causes I support, etc.).
Part of the joy of creating is lost when I imagine trying to monetize it. It’s something that brings me peace and I don’t want to alter that.

Recently switched from a manual to electric. I was accustomed to listening to the engine to gauge speed. My first time driving to work, I looked down and realized that I was going 96MPH. ( the Electric Mini has a setting for an auditory warning when I exceed a specific speed, it’s now turned on). 🙃
I can assure you that my middle school students remain right about everything and are quite exasperated that life requires them to expend the effort to explain both their correctness and everyone else’s insurmountable wrongness in every facet of life.
10 mugs of various sizes, all with slip trailed, carved, or glaze variations sitting in the top shelf of the speech office.
14 mugs with a variety of glazes, carvings, and slip trailed designs, on a shelf in the speech office.
Mugs for all the seniors who either joined me on trips to learn about art, or who had speech services! 💜☕️💜
That def of “oats” though! 🙃
The irony that Boswell was Scottish.
Green slip formed into peanut shapes, in a haphazard line on porcelain .
A mug of white greenware- possibly porcelain-, with a series of green dots shaped like peanuts circumnavigating the mug about an inch from the bottom of the pit. The cement floor and some shelves are visible in the ceramic studio background.
Brown stoneware with ochre. There are 4 sections of decorations. The bottom and 3rd sections contain blue and green slip, shaped like peanuts, in an ascending and descending pattern. The 2nd and fourth sections have been carved.
Discovered a novel pattern… promptly got carried away.

When it’s the Thursday before break and every single student with ADHD has 3 *semester-long* assignments due. And you also have ADHD. 🙃
Seriously though. I love my job, but we just took over an empty classroom bc there was no way we could fit in my office.
They’re all the same size if they are on my phone! 🙃
Roses are red
Violets are blue
i wonder if maybe we should stop writing post-apocalyptic fiction just until we're sure that's not where rich people are getting their ideas
My electric mini has climate control that I can operate from my phone. It keeps the climate consistent for 30 mins (which is def longer than I’ve ever left my dog by himself).
As a potter, it’s about half/half whether I eat or drink out of something I made. I do have a couple pieces of my own, but also have a lot by fellow artists whose stuff I love. 🍵
These kind of votes are born out of trans representation in government.
Rep. Howell & I have built solid relationships with Republicans and those relationships change hearts, minds, and (eventually) votes.
It is painful, grueling work. But it makes a difference.
A roaring fire in a fireplace, on a stack of pointed hardwood logs, with skulls at the base, with fire pouring from the tops.
Hey.
I know everything is on fire right now.
I need you to stop, drop, and roll, for just a second.
Take a real deep breath.
Another, deeper this time. Let it sigh out of you like the grumble of winter slipping away.
I know it's hard.
But you are the beautiful thing in the midst of wreckage.
Electric mini!
100% loving my electric vehicle!
They cannot break me, but by the 7th hour in the studio mindlessly putting dots on pottery… they may have broken my back.
As a potter who often has people comment on how quickly I throw, I feel this!
A mug, in white stoneware, with hundreds of tiny, slip trailed dots in black, white, and teal. The handle has been broken by a klutz who was admiring the bottom and bumped into the counter with gusto.
And the result of my first time trying to use it. Why do I love such fragile things? #ISwearTheCounterMoved #Whoops #SpatialAwareness #NothingGoldCanStay #IBrokeIt
The foot of a mug, which is raw clay, and and angled glazed section also visible. Inside the bottom portion of the foot is a circle of black dots. On the outside edge, going up the overhang of the bottom, there is a circle of thick white slip trailed dots (which create a perfect texture to fidget with) and a subsequent circle of black dots. From the circle of black dots, a series of 3 teal dots trail up the side of the cup. There are two longer lines of teal slip dots, one going up the handle, and one going up the body of the mug opposite the handle.
A side view of a mug with other ceramic Pieces in the background. The mug has a single, tiny, teal, slip trailed dots as decor up the handle. Behind the handle, there is a line of dots following the same line as the handle, with a sort of asterisk behind the handle. On each side, two of the lines have been connected, creating a sort of angled hourglass shape.
The first piece of my own pottery that I immediately decided to keep in the past couple years.

I tried to make a post about a mug I made. I spent forever on the #AltText & realized I lack the vocab to describe pottery except “these are the fun words my brain thinks when I slip-trail.” Also, I closed the app after I hit post bc #ADHD, so it didn’t share. #winning
Middle School Documentation: Student arrived in SLP office w/ two socks and one Birkenstock sandal. Student noted they “thought” they had 2 shoes during recess (temperature during lunch: 28•F, -2•C). Student spent much of session looking for their shoe, thus little progress was made toward goals.
