I spend a lot of time in the early sketch phase working through my idea too. Usually that part of the process is pretty smooth since I also do a lot of visualization in my head before I start sketching. It's that last phase when everything is in place, where things start jumping out at me hardcore.

Man I dunno if it's like this for y'all, but I feel like 90% of my time making art is spent in that little phase at the end when everything is "done", and then I start seeing a bunch of stuff I want change/fix. That's usually when I break out the "Top Details Paintover Layer"
