I will accept this argument when it is demonstrated that under a regular and reliable schedule, it wouldnât be well-used.
âŚAnd once we start making the same âworth itâ and cost arguments about secondary highways and similar. ;)

Thatâs it!
I almost asked her if she had thought about how much those 7-9 parking spots would cost in tax dollars and whether itâd be worth it to her, but thought better of it.
Alternatively, Miramichi could start charging for street parking on Water Street but *gasp!* that would be blasphemous.
I was over exaggerating a bit as I think she actually just wants to remove the wide portion of the sidewalk (to add 7-9 more parking spaces?)
I still think itâs exceptionally dumb & am curious what sheâll suggest when those spaces are also filled. Tear down buildings for parking? Where does it end?
I donât think we should have to give up the Ocean line in order to have better regional rail.
The Ocean is well-used between Northern New Brunswick and Quebec municipalities.
Its current schedule makes it as impractical as possible, so the number of riders it has is quite impressive.
The comment reads: g that parking is not for us, it's for that building as they own it. Do you not think I'd rather have as much space as possible for customers available? Talk to council. The parking down here is horrible. The wide sidewalks need to go and have parking the full road on both sides.â
This is a small business owner in Miramichi, talking about how there isnât enough parking in downtown Chatham soâŚ. we should remove the sidewalks?
(Also, I have *never* had a problem getting a free parking spot within a 2 minute walk of Water St businesses).
Facebook is bad for my health.
Our outgoing mayor made a post about why the Chatham library is important and this is one of comments.
The importance of literacy cannot be overstated.
Not me trying to convince Miramichiers on Facebook that them not having used the Chatham library before it was torn down does not mean that there is no need for a library in Chatham.
I canât think of a mayor who looks like theyâre doing more than Mamdani, but Iâm fairly convinced he spends half of every day working on comms.
It may not be that heâs actually doing more, but that heâs mastered the story telling of municipal work.
Itâll be a comms case study someday.
Yup, it is.
They did add a crosswalk a bit farther down (away from the mall), which makes crossing slightly less traumatizing, but the crosswalk lines have almost completely disappeared and so many motorists (especially now) donât stop for pedestrians waiting there.
Me: havenât been sleeping well. Have done a lot of commuting to Moncton and have been in full day work meetings. Have to get up at 4 tomorrow to bake a birthday cake. Looking forward to getting in bed by 8:30.
14yo: chooses right now as the time to come and share everything about her life.

I feel so hopeless about Miramichiâs future.
Regardless of what city councillors say, actions demonstrate they do not care about people outside of cars.
At the first hint of inconvenience to cars, they do not hesitate to take space from the little ped/bike infrastructure that we have.
Screenshot of a video of the four Artemis astronauts during a Q&A. All of them have big smiles.
Havenât seen four people look this genuinely happy together in a long time.
Leaving earth might just be the trick.
A grill your own bread station at Pizza Delight.
A true âyou donât know what youâve got âtill itâs goneâ was the Pizza Delight bread grilling station. Nothing quite like that bread, slathered with garlic butter and then grilled butter side down.
Delicious.
Miramichi city council voted against the zoning requirements, knowing they were leaving this money on the table. đŤ
It's not an "energy crisis" it's an oil crisis that happens regularly due to precarious supply chains we have chosen to maintain, despite obvious locally sourced alternatives

Also, not like I was relying on that bus to get to work bc we only have one vehicle and the kids have activities I wonât be home in time to get them to (because of the increased commuting times).
Now trying to figure out if we need to buy a second car. Bad time since husband is being laid off. đŤ
City is about to be overwhelmed with traffic starting Mon thanks to the prov gov.
So anywhooo the city announced 5 days before the mayhem that, in fact, they wonât have the express bus that they promised months ago.
And also the they took over the âbike lanesâ (shoulder) for more space for cars.
Miramichi has announced that garbage cans will need to be out by 5:00am because garbage collection will start earlier with the bridge closure.
Miramichi bears upon reading the announcement:
I have this same issue. The majority of the people who work in my dept work in the Atlantic time zone, and we have staff across the country, yet they still send emails announcing all-staff meetings with no time zone indicator (I.e. - join us at 1:00pm) and expect everyone to just know it is eastern.
Screenshot from the schoolmgr app which is used to report student absences. Absence options are: illness, medical appointment, other informed absence, rearrangement, or sports non-school related.
My children attend a K-8 school with essentially no music/art program. No dedicated teachers, no instruments, etc.
My 14yo is participating in the music festival today and reporting her absence annoys me. School sports donât count as absences. Outside sports get special treatment. What about arts?
The real question is: was he still wearing his bonnet upon capture?
My husband is out of town for work this week. By the time we see him on Friday, my kids and I will have completed:
-2 music festival performances
-2 volleyball games
-3 volleyball practices
-1 school dance
-7 dance practices
-1 kid getting braces on out of town
-dance competition prep
-work/school

The cup holders we have on our bikes are from La Factrie and theyâre one of my favourite accessories!
I like public transit for the same reason that I like safe active transit infrastructure, libraries, parks, community spaces, small businesses, & farmerâs markets.
They increase community, decrease isolation, are strongholds against capitalist overreach, & help to foster a collectivist culture.
Good Day Gifts & Housewares right on Main Street! (in the process of changing their name from Kept on Main)
I havenât been a Moncton resident for 15 years.
I donât need any more shirts.
But this was still tempting.
No tap. They are replacing Hotspot with Codiac+ which is still a different app than the Codiac Transpo app but somehow has less functionality than Hotspot (no live map integration, etc).
Iâm hoping theyâll expand Codiac+ but it doesnât seem to be much (if any) of an improvement right now.
Worked out of our Moncton office for a change yesterday.
From my parentsâ house, I had two options: Walk/bus/walk =~40 min
Drive =~12 min
I took the bus. It was đŻ the right decision.
As a KVHS alumnus, this post is how I learned they changed their mascot. đ
I love ordering things from QuĂŠbĂŠcois businesses because even if the website has an English toggle, all of the confirmation emails are only French & they always include a hand-written note.
Ca me donne la chance de pratiquer mon français et de me sentir bien de soutenir une petite entreprise.
