I couldn’t agree more with your comment. They will blame the NWS, blame the democrats, Trump will lie and deny he had anything to do with it. In the end lives are lost and due to Trump’s ineptitude, a broken system gets worse.

While one sleeps, another is the busy bee out foraging. Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) and Cuckoo Bee (Xeromelecta californica) sleeping in Narrowleaf Milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis). This was during a thunderstorm in the Klamath Siskiyou Mtns. of Oregon. #nature, #wildlife, #PNW
California Tortoiseshell butterfly with open wings showing the beautiful orange color of its upper wings. It is on the ground gathering water from a spring in the hillside.
Lilac-bordered Copper butterfly with the distinctive lilac color on the outer edge of the hindwing. This butterfly was just clinging to a local plant
Echo Azure butterfly with folded wings also drinking from the spring mentioned earlier. You can just see a little blue color of the upper side wing but mostly what is visible is the grayish-white underside.
This Yellow-faced bumblebee has been feeding on yellow owls clover and has quite a bit of pollen in his open pouch found on the back legs. It looks like a brownish-red growth similar to a big blood blister but is only a bulbous mass of pollen.

During a recent trip to Lake of the Woods (Oregon) I was able to catch a glimpse of this beautiful Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) sitting on a Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) branch. He didn’t stay long but seemed to be enjoying the coolness of the lake. #birds, #birdwatching, #nature

It's been a while since I posted, so here is my treat for the day. I've only seen the Phantom Orchid (Cephalanthera austiniae) in this ivory stage once in the past. When it ages and turns brown was the typical sighting for me. #nativeplants, #NaturePhotography, #nature, #PNW

The oddest place I've seen them display was on the top of a chain link fence ( grid wire tie). A double take for sure. Very nice artwork.

Two of my favorites, Valley Gartersnake and California Kingsnake. The photo of the kingsnake was taken at night. I was out for a hike looking for owls at the edge of a woodland/annual grassland and almost stepped on him. #nature #NaturePhotography #herps #snakes
