I checked the range map, and the western pygmy blue occupies your area.

Good morning. It looks like a Western Pygmy Blue (Brephidium exillis)

Looks great. I’ll bet a lot of critters are very happy to visit your meadow.

Mike, wow great photo. Takes me back to my favorite place in the desert.

I couldn’t agree more with your comment. They will blame the NWS, blame the democrats, Trump will lie and deny he had anything to do with it. In the end lives are lost and due to Trump’s ineptitude, a broken system gets worse.

Chris, thanks for posting the article. Uplifting in this really difficult time for those who care about endangered species.

Now that's one comfortable Cuckoo Bee. Looks nice and secure holding on to that Narrowleaf Milkweed flower. #nature, #naturephotography, #PNW

While one sleeps, another is the busy bee out foraging. Honey Bee (Apis mellifera) and Cuckoo Bee (Xeromelecta californica) sleeping in Narrowleaf Milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis). This was during a thunderstorm in the Klamath Siskiyou Mtns. of Oregon. #nature, #wildlife, #PNW

Echo Azure butterfly with folded wings also drinking from the spring mentioned earlier. You can just see a little blue color of the upper side wing but mostly what is visible is the grayish-white underside.

This Yellow-faced bumblebee has been feeding on yellow owls clover and has quite a bit of pollen in his open pouch found on the back legs. It looks like a brownish-red growth similar to a big blood blister but is only a bulbous mass of pollen.

Some friends in the neighborhood. Butterflies left to right - California Tortoiseshell (Nymphalis californica), Lilac-bordered Copper (Tharsalea nivalis) and Echo Azure (Celastrina echo) near the Siskiyou Crest (Oregon). Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) sitting on a Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) branch at Lake of the Woods, Oregon. Very nice relaxing day next to the water

During a recent trip to Lake of the Woods (Oregon) I was able to catch a glimpse of this beautiful Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) sitting on a Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia) branch. He didn’t stay long but seemed to be enjoying the coolness of the lake. #birds, #birdwatching, #nature

Wonderful photo. That really captures the unique timing of nutrient transfer.

Phantom Orchid (Cephalathera austiniae) found in the Klamath Mountains of Oregon.

It's been a while since I posted, so here is my treat for the day. I've only seen the Phantom Orchid (Cephalanthera austiniae) in this ivory stage once in the past. When it ages and turns brown was the typical sighting for me. #nativeplants, #NaturePhotography, #nature, #PNW

California wants to kill rooftop solar — all because officials were duped by this flawed theory Too many officials have bought a key utility company excuse for rising energy prices — solar ‘cost shift.’

"Instead of freeloading off the system, rooftop solar actually saves ratepayers money by preventing the need for the system to expand." Debunking the "cost-shift" myth by Richard McCann -

The oddest place I've seen them display was on the top of a chain link fence ( grid wire tie). A double take for sure. Very nice artwork.

Trump vs. America's National Parks What a sprained ankle reveals about how badly stretched park workers are

Please read/share if you love your national parks!
New from @pamherd.bsky.social & me: A DOGEr is now running the National Park Service.

They were already short of employees to manage record crowds. DOGE has cut 13% and wants to cut 30%.

Two of my favorites, Valley Gartersnake and California Kingsnake. The photo of the kingsnake was taken at night. I was out for a hike looking for owls at the edge of a woodland/annual grassland and almost stepped on him. #nature #NaturePhotography #herps #snakes

At first glance, I would say a meadowlark.

Sarah, thanks for sharing. I’m pleased to see folks investigating the impacts to marine life by wildfire. We sometimes forget that the soil, ash and debris travels beyond the fire zone.

Southern alligator lizard, Sierra Nevada foothills of California.

Southern alligator lizard, Sierra Nevada foothills of California.

My last photo of the day gives a little love to lizards. Another photo from the Sierra Nevada foothills. I was investigating an old miners cabin when I came across this southern alligator lizard out for a walk. I’ve seen many over the years but not one so green. #WorldWildlifeDay #NaturePhotography
