Writing a piece on Gateshead’s ‘Great Escape’ from relegation and had a fascinating chat with Rob Elliot today.

What a job these guys have done to keep the club in the National League against all odds.

Also thankful for them being so welcoming to William and his mate Alex!

Mark Carruthers: Darlington’s rise shows the value of the bigger picture - The Non-League Football Paper When assessing the merits of a glorious success or a perceived failure, there should be a necessity to look at the bigger picture.

⚪️⚫️ Steve Watson and Terry Mitchell are doing a fine job at Darlington - and that’s why the success or failure of their push for the National League North play-off push should be viewed as part of a bigger picture.

I agree to an extent. But I do think you’re bang on about the atmosphere.

I suspect both will play a part in pre-season and make season-long loan moves ahead of the season.

Again, it then has to be the right moves for both.

6 days ago 0 0 0 0

That’s my point.

Sometimes a number of factors play a part in the success or failure of a loan move.

NUFC have to improve in that department without question because they have a number of talented players that have their development boosted by productive loan spells.

Harrison has been injured but everything seems to suggest he will be moved on this summer.

I think Munda’s versatility in midfield is his main attribute. He say he’s prefers playing as an eight - but I think he’s just as effective holding or as a ten as you say.

6 days ago 1 0 0 0

FWIW on Munda, I think a loan move is an absolute must next season.

He’s got better and better throughout a difficult season but his energy, work-rate, ability on the ball and physically needs challenged in competitive football.

Then it’s about finding the right club…

⚫⚪ You could probably dig up a whole host of posts from previous games and it would fit with that Newcastle United display.

Same old mistakes, same questions not being answered. Too many players going through the motions. No leadership. Zero game management.
