Posts by That's Devolved

I've always been reluctant to jump on a headline which is incorrect if the article is ultimately correct (or corrected).

But given how people consume news via social media, it's probably even more important that the headline/social media post is accurate.

Voters in Wales failed by inaccurate UK media reports on devolved issues, study finds Reports on English policies seen in Wales as relating to whole of UK contribute to widespread confusion, researchers say

Glad this is getting some real research behind it.

Anecdotally I've noticed that outlets are a little better at adding 'in England' in print but remain awful in formats where it's harder to call them out.

Where to go for help during resident doctors’ strike next week Patients have been told what to expect during the strike

North Wales Live confusingly both dismisses and acknowledges the differences between England and Wales. Commenting "Britons have been encouraged to be mindful" but acknowledging "the strike will affect every hospital across England"

Tuition fees to rise with inflation Bridget Phillipson confirms Bridget Phillipson confirmed that universities will be able to charge above the current £9,535 a year in future, with tuition fee loans rising to match.

This article from the Daily Mail does not make clear that this applies to universities in England only. Tuition fees are devolved, and there are different fee regimes across the nations.

This article is incorrect. The funding of most public services in Wales are decided by the Senedd and the Welsh Gov. New public spending in England can lead to a Barrnet consequtial for any of the devolved nations. I can't believe I'm still saying this #thatsdevolved
