Bill S209 would prohibit civil arrests in sensitive locations, like churches or schools. To appease Governor Scott and the Republicans, Democrats removed government buildings (the statehouse, town clerks’ offices, the DMV, DCF, etc.) from the version that passed the Senate. Before the bill goes to the House on Tuesday, we’re asking everyone to call Governor Scott and Speaker Krowinski. Tell them that you want state and town government buildings protected from ICE.

The courts have already said that states have the right to protect their government buildings in this way. This is the only thing that was in the bill that we know will stand up in court.

🚨If you live in #Vermont and want to limit where ICE can arrest people, we need you to call Phill Scott and Speaker Krowinski's offices before Tuesday. Tell them you want S209 to include government buildings.
