From the 1850s to today, the playbook is the same: stoke racial fear, concentrate wealth, suppress votes. It's not just American history — Canada's media and resource oligarchs know it too. Hungary just rejected it. We can too, ideally before the crash that inevitably follows.
Apparently actually accomplishing things for the country are now “conniving games”.
"...the president posted his own interpretation of the terms of the agreement, but they were aspirational and asked for Iran to agree to terms that were less advantageous for the U.S. than (the plan) that President Barack Obama negotiated in 2015 and Trump tore up in 2018."
This is, to put it mildly, a very big deal. It requires countries to cooperate. And it comes at a time when the United States is not exactly in "plays well with others" territory. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/o...
Memories of a pandemic: today in 2020 Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer recommended wearing a mask when out in public. COVID went from being a distant concern to feeling very personal.
Received this bit of advertising in my email. Glad to know that, by default, we're friends, even if they can't remember my name.
Well it doesn't LOOK like the Enterprise but hey... baby steps. www.sciencealert.com/worlds-first...
"For Trump and Co., it is a bedrock belief that American might is so awesome that the US can roam about the global schoolyard punching the other kids and stealing their lunch money without the slightest worry that this behaviour will ever have consequences."

"Taken together, these three reports paint a dark picture. Without addressing the growing chasm of wealth inequality in Canada, it’s difficult to imagine addressing any of the pressing social issues that plague this country."

Bad framing.
Now THAT'S pathetic fallacy.
Interesting invocation, but the pathetic fallacy runs the other direction — it's writers projecting emotion onto nature, not nature influencing humans. This study is documenting the latter: a measurable cognitive bias. Empirical psychology, not Ruskin.
This reminds me of that old adage, "No matter how rich you become, how famous or powerful, when you die the size of your funeral will still pretty much depend on the weather."
"Alonso discusses a US research paper that discovered that students were less likely to apply to an institution if they toured the campus on a day that was rainy, excessively hot, or cloudy and cold." www.insidehighered.com/news/admissi...
"Some people would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth."
I got this ad from a local theatre for a Beatle's cover band and I thought, that's impressive, they found a left-handed bass player to be Paul. Then I watched a YouTube video of them and HE ISN'T LEFT-HANDED. So they've photoshopped the still photos.
Takes real effort not to dance along to this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkfv...
"The Justice Department said it’s reviewing whether it improperly withheld Epstein-related records listed in evidence logs."
In other news, the Joker has launched an independent inquiry into who keeps planting explosives around Gotham, reporting directly to him.
Well this is a first for me. Skilled AND lucky at the same time. Usually I have to put up with one or the other. Mostly the other.
You know how you make sourdough starter? Mix flour and water and leave them on your counter for a few days, then discard and feed regularly. All the yeast you need is floating around you! Look up 'Wild Yeast Sourdough Starter' and skip these expensive kits.
Keep doing your excellent work Jordan! I’m sure I’ll be back to the web site regularly when something seems… unlikely. I don’t envy your job these days.
Sorry, should have included a trigger warning: "Contains instructions such as 'stir' and 'heat.'"
I have just unsubscribed from the Snopes newsletter, which I've enjoyed for years because it used to be accurate deep dives into interesting conspiracy theories. Now it's just them debunking obvious AI slop. They must be so bored over there.
In fairness they include the recipe for a Whisky Sour, so that's worth $10 because you can't find it anywhere else.
Folks, this is insanity. Simple syrup is the single easiest thing to make yourself - it's literally 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Anyone buying this makes "too dumb to boil water" an upgrade.
That still seems like a lot. The limit in Canada is $5250 split between the party, your riding association, and the leader. And only individuals can contribute, not corporations or unions.
Two high schoolers on the bus next to me this morning, one says to the other, "bro, that was like half a decade ago." And I'm thinking, 5 years? You mean yesterday?
I think there’s a third thing.
