“Iran is held hostage by its own regime—
but haunted by the fate of countries the West tried to ‘save.’

"We live between two truths:
The regime is deeply dysfunctional—decades of repression and mismanagement.
Foreign ‘solutions’ mean collapse—we’ve watched Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan. 1/2

Meta Plans to Add Facial Recognition Technology to Its Smart Glasses

Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.

Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

They came to Massachusetts to cure disease. Now they’re packing up their labs. - The Boston Globe In a first-of-its-kind survey, the Globe asked hundreds of scientists about the impact of federal funding cuts.

One Boston Children’s Hospital researcher said, “This is like asking, how do you think dropping an atomic bomb on New York City will affect the future of Broadway musicals? This is a generational loss of innovation, technology, and economic power.” www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/09/m...

I think that the current situation is "I no longer *Type* code" but I still Create/design/rewrite.

Probably is time just to make UML diagrams and good arquitectura designs. (I remember the claims of "Rational Rose back in a early 2000)

Top engineers at Anthropic, OpenAI say AI now writes 100% of their code—with big implications for the future of software development jobs | Fortune AI coding tools are getting more sophisticated. But if coders stop coding, what happens to software development jobs?

Probably we should came back to the model of "apprentice" for software engineers, where the new "extreme-programming" model could be work in pairs senior-junior, no writing code but reviewing it, to see good and bad practices copy-pasted by IA.

Actions speak louder than words.

Tom Homan says he wants to do things differently, but we have yet to see meaningful change.

The only way to ensure the safety of the people of Minnesota is for the federal government to draw down their forces and end this campaign of brutality.

Very interesting point, but misleading. This is a view from a senior software engineer.
He no longer *write* code, probably he only direct what the code should do, and he review the code.

The Royal Irish Academy is committed to creating, convening, and sharing knowledge for the public good and as an organisation we value Independence; Integrity; Curiosity; Openness and Rigour.

In our view, X no longer aligns with these values

@hcrichardson.bsky.social wrote about a 1945 US leaflet on how to spot fascism in America.

I thought it might be worth screenshotting the relevant bit.

ALL of the these warnings have come to pass in the past year. 1/2
