Appreciate doing an interview as a higher ed expert and having to do a quick, "oh, wait, you know I left a Texas university for Delaware right?"
I got to read through my SMU resignation letter again for this interview which was fun. Snippet below!

For me, it's Sarah Gailey! Never been wrong to pre-order, always something totally new
hey friends! this is a common question but a good, warm-fuzzy one:
who are your ride or die, auto-buy authors? who have you read everything by, who's new releases do you get really excited for?

I'd recommend The Starving Saints!
Saturday's student-led event at UT-Austin raised awareness about censorship & book bans, and featured great conversation w/ lots of energy. Proud to have been a part of it. (Also, as a lifetime Longhorn, I'm kinda stoked I finally made it into The Daily Texan.) thedailytexan.com/2026/03/30/w...
Really interesting discussion about how most research doesn't have enough metadata to tell you if its what you're looking for - on the other hand AO3 has a really helpful metadata schema.

Has PornHub ever given academic researchers access to their data? I feel like if they have someone within the sound of my voice will know…tysm
From a recent police board meeting, crime trends year over year up to Q3 2025. Something clearly stands out! And yet despite ABC being in a constant moral panic about crime, it's the one thing they consistently ignore (or sometimes actively make worse).
We had folks from @queerliblib.bsky.social visit class last night for a guest lecture! Hard to say how awed I am by what they've built and how happy I am such a thing exists. Canada: someday!
Another book you should read instead of watching *another* iteration of that racist transphobic bs.
RF Kuang's Babel.
Nebula-award winning exploration of imperialism and racism at a school lots of stairs and turrets, if that's your thing.
You do "emotional labour" when you are producing an inauthentic emotional state as a product to be sold, which, like the factor lineworker producing a widget all day long that *they* don't own, is a form of alienation a la Marx.
The right way to read fresh-off-the-presses critical cataloguing work is in a chat thread with @brimwats.com. There's so much to praise about this analysis and writing! www.inthelibrarywiththeleadpipe.org/2026/seeking...

Please participate if you're able! The brightness of LED headlights is out of control, and they're a real hazard to drivers and pedestrians.

You ever write something and there are so many parts you hope people engage with that you can't figure out which ones to quote?
I'll do a wee thread on the 3rd, and final, essay from my Red Scares series

This is the story btw (this report is fine, but is being decontextualized and amplified on X). It's reserve land, the 50 year lease is expiring, the Nation has previously warned they may not renew, they are now giving 2 years notice and waiving pad fees until then

What books did Alberta schools *actually* pull off the shelves in response to a provincial order? It took a lot of work to find out. We still don't have a complete picture. And some schools are still pulling material.
Free speech advocates say it's ban unmatched in Canadian history. #AbLeg By me.
I'd probably go with something like your option #1. I think it'd require some more digging to see what they want out of it (in terms of findings) if the existing lit wasn't a sufficient answer for them.
NEW FROM ME:
While US and Israeli forces launched strikes against Iran this weekend, Global News' The West Block host Ben Mulroney reposted video of fighter jets that had been miscaptioned as American F-15s attacking Iran
I double-checked. Ben was actually sharing footage from a video game
As a 2016 UT Austin PhD grad, the speed of the deliberate dismantling of this public university is stunning. I wasn’t naive about Texas politics but still. Damn.
A graph of database connections, showing a massive spike at around 18.30.
This is what AI scrapers are doing to our platform. Our database capacity is just being ruined every time they initiate a fresh scrape and our tech team has to scramble, taking radical measures, to keep the platform up.
“For those who are just learning about Tumbler Ridge for the first time, know that it is so much more than the events of this week. The town is a portrait of resiliency. It has survived against the odds and emerged stronger.”
