"Former members of the controversial parents’ rights group Moms for Liberty are speaking out, claiming the Florida-born organization is plagued with infighting, membership turnover, and a leadership focused more on photo ops with President Trump than issues at home" LOL

🦅 The #EndangeredSpeciesAct has a 99% success rate at preventing extinctions. H.R. 1897 would gut it.

Nowadays most women aren’t forced to marry for survival, yet elaborate propaganda systems have emerged to bait them into believing that traditional marriage, along with its outdated gender roles, is romantic.
🚨 ICE is “checking boarding passes” at ICE infested airports. If you don’t want to give ICE your UNLOCKED phone, get a paper boarding pass. 🚨

My Books Save Lives Act makes it clear: discriminatory book bans are a violation of federal civil rights law.
I held a read-in at All She Wrote Books in Somerville to announce this bill to fight book bans and emphasize the importance of inclusive literature.

Chants of ‘shame’ were heard as board members voted to fire her...”

The public made noise for Liam Ramos and it got him released from Dilley.
Now we must make noise for 7 year old Diana Crespo.
Her parents were taking her for emergency medical care when ICE grabbed them, and she’s rotting in the camp sick and exposed to measles.
Get them out!
Folks, if you are in the vicinity of an ICE raid or kidnapping, and you see a truck with a satellite dish on top of it, (aka a "Stingray"), please know that this DHS technology mimics a cell tower, pulls in cell phones in radius on a signal, and can seize data off your phone without your knowledge.
Every Feb. 1 I will celebrate the Greensboro Four, who tried to get served at the Woolworth lunch counter and launched a national movement.

I paid my therapist a zillion dollars to tell me this, so I’m passing it on to anyone else in MN who needs to hear it:
Think of taking time away to recharge not as not doing the work, but as doing quality control for the work. You’re not going to be able to show up to do it well if you’re depleted
DreamHaven Books owner Greg Ketter emerging from a cloud of tear gas that ICE agents fired into the streets of Minneapolis.
Remember the other day when I was saluting my friend Greg Ketter, owner of Minneapolis’ DreamHaven Books? This is him the following day. Greg will never say this, so I will — now is a great time to buy books from DreamHaven. Support Americans who stand up vs. 🧊. dreamhavenbooks.com
Yesterday, Minneapolis gave us hope. That’s what they’re trying to kill: the will of a people who are willing to fight them.
Today is, among other things, a reminder that you don't get a general strike by posting that we should have a general strike.
You get a general strike—on the rare occasions you do—by the long slow slog of building organizing power with those around you in response to local conditions.

Want to honor Alice Wong and her work? Wear a damn mask!
those of us laid off from Teen Vogue were really fortunate to complete our fundraising goal — the laid-off staffers at VIBE deserve the same support, as Black media outlets and journalists continue to be targeted and discriminated against in “austerity” measures
This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing. Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin. We need more stories about us and our culture. You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.
💔 Alice Wong’s last words: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”
We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.
Want to pull out this slide: people deserve to know there’s a growing mountain of evidence finding more Covid infections = more likelihood of being left chronically ill.
There’s a temptation to think that if you recovered ok last time, then you will next time too, but that’s not what the data say.
Ryan patiently and methodically lays out his account of the relevant events in 11 pages of erudite, scholarly prose, then drops this banger at the end. 💥

MAGA’s ongoing war on academic freedom, reflected in headlines from the last 24 hours.
From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."
