Dear BlueSky users: must you inject politics into everything?
Consider the group that follows vaccine scientists. Many of these posts are technical. Does this group need the umpteenth reply post that the HHS leader is unqualified?
Maybe stay on topic rather than tell me water is wet?

If only Tillis had seen South Park S27:E2 “Got a Nut” last August to understand the Noem dog fiasco earlier. Lol
Kudos to him overall.
Twitter is a garbage can of monetized disinformation fed by an anger-boosting algorithm.
But it is the onslaught of bot posts that threatens Twitter’s existence. The noise continually degrades the user experience and undermines discussion.
I worked on budgets. This is wonderful. Muni budgets don’t get enough attention and transparency.
It is an indicator of pragmatic, constituent-friendly governance.
Crooked, vampiric gerontocracy with price/income and buyer age near highs.
The nice 1 BR 1.5 bath 1,176 sq ft Texas townhouse by me just listed.
Tax value (nominal $)-

Exceptional editorial on ICE by a small, rural newspaper named the Caledonian Record.

"If someone tells you it is raining and another tells you it is dry, it's not your job to quote them both. It's your job to look out the ****ing window and find out which is true"
Jonathan Foster, on journalism
The counter argument is folks age differently—the Bernie outliers.
If we do a cognitive test, we replace the age debate with another. Which test is “valid”? The memory test? The executive function test? Some combo?
We clearly need age diversity, especially younger people, in government.
In Texas, the idea that enforcement will stop is crazy talk.
If you want to axe an org with 22K people, there MUST be an alternative presented in the same breath.
ICE has bad leadership, rules, and discipline—we see the unprofessionalism and violence daily.
Maybe downsize + better e-Verify?
I went to Minneapolis last week. What I saw was horrifying and inspiring in equal measure. Gift link to my latest column: www.nytimes.com/2026/01/19/o...
A survey of the Mississippi River belt in 1944, showing it coiling all over the basin
The same image, with heights in relief
This is my all time favorite map. The Mississippi Meander Belt (1944), original and GIS-enhanced
As if the Citizens United decision wasn't bad enough, in FEC vs. NRSC, SCOTUS could get rid of the contribution limits between national party committees and candidates.
A ruling in favor of NRSC would spell disaster for our campaign finance system.
“Ah, just one more thing, sir. You’re blowing up those boats, saying they’re filled with drugs headed for the US. But then you go and pardon the guy who brought in 400 tons of cocaine. That’s billions of doses. Help me understand that.”

I haven’t seen anyone talk about how Jane Doe - an Epstein survivor - just sued the Bank of New York Mellon for funding Epstein and failing to file a Suspicious Activity Report. A Mellon heir is the one who gave $130M to pay the troops. Seems bribey to me.
My mother quarantined in the dark for weeks after getting the red measles. Shut away inside her parents’ bedroom, radio was her only source of stimulation.
No vaccine existed. It was 1948.
Three months ago was the first I heard of a PRIME MINISTER visiting pedo island. And now this appears much worse.
Release the Epstein files.

health spending graph
A Yale study found that in a (non-pandemic) year, $438 Billion would be saved if the US switched to Universal healthcare.
We spend more on healthcare than any other developed nation.
The Senate is unrepresentative of the general public. The average age U.S. age is 38 versus 65 for Senate.
Also, Senate representation—residents per Senator—is super unbalanced (20 million for CA; 0.3 million for WY). Same for State GDP per Senator.
The first question to ask with AI is, “How did it go so far with crude AI?”
Social media is an anger and disinfo dumpster. A deluge of bots urge us to fight. Assassination drones. Automated discrimination.
No rigorous grasp of AI agents.
Let’s make it more powerful as fast as possible! 🤡
Greetings from Texas. I donated.
Thank you for the crisp, no-BS communication. The government should prioritize home affordability. Affordability is crucial as companies continue to geographically arbitrage wages with way-cheaper remote work.
Release the files!
Pundit Matthew Dowd was fired by the evening of Sept. 10, the same day as the killing. Then the Klein OpEd dashed off ~24 hours later.
America: land of bad hot takes, hasty OpEds, and hastier firings. 🤷🏻♂️
Imagine how differently this would have gone pre-social media, say in the 1980s.
Jonathan Haidt’s 2022 article on how social media warped reality is evergreen. A must read.
Reforming social media requires collective action and tech company accountability.

Please comment or write about the hasty firing of Matthew Dowd.
As a practical matter, how will any journalist do live analysis of shootings going forward? If I can’t gain insight beyond “incident is tragic” what’s the point of tuning in?
“KaroLYIN” 😂 😂 😂
Newsom is on 🔥 I want to inject it in my veins.
Our country is so upside down.
Big Ballz might get a Freedom medal for *checks notes*…getting punched. Meanwhile, Littlejohn gets 6X the max sentence for divulging massive tax loopholes to the public and taking $0.00.
Littlejohn has already done too much prison time. It’s outrageous. 😡
My layman’s impression of Dr. Prasad is he is very stats and data focused. He had some complex and nuanced opinions on YouTube that were clearly communicated.
Unfortunately taking a public stance on anything these days is fraught.
Big Pharma helped get him fired and his replacement will be worse.
This is the right take on solar. Brownfield solar (like roofs) should be the default. But we’ve thrown up permit and middleman barriers, especially in U.S. cities. The HOA is a barrier.
Europe is more permissive with roof solar placement. To be fair, European homes are more fire-resistant.
