Prepare More Students for Advanced Math Dear Colleague, Your district’s middle schools now have options for preparing more students for the advanced math that you teach. Help prepare students for your class by sharing the following information with your middle school colleagues. Expand Access to Pre-AP Algebra 1 in Middle School Middle schools can order Pre-AP® Algebra 1 for free if their high school enrolls students in certain AP courses.
Talk about mission creep. The leviathan College Board is now trying to worm its way into MIDDLE SCHOOL by providing an Algebra I. Pretty soon you’ll see the College Board preparing elementary school material. Will the CB produce a pregnancy guidebook? Only time will tell. 🙄 #MTBoS #ITeachMath

I finally finished making an audiobook for Rethinking Disability and Mathematics. Only two years late! Hurrah! I also made some resources to go with it, like Math Homework (a printout with all the math problems in the book to use before you listen or read) ♾️

Great article, great summary, why did I ever think this was a "reasonable guy"
I once ran into a parade in Central America that was an unbelievable experience, to add continents to your thesis . . .
I read her book when I was getting my doctorate and having babies. It taught me theory AND helped me be less anxious about parenting. It helped me feel okay about spending little or no money on "enrichment" classes and focus on learning through our family work and play.
Congratulations Patrick! I was just thinking of your skills the other day, but the skill of picking amazing restaurants in a new city. So clearly you have many many skills. Very exciting to see this recognition of your great scholarship!
Oh My a video of Barbara Rogoff talking about culture and individuals and how learning happens. She is one of the most important theorists of learning that exists, in my opinion.
Re-posting this because I'm seeing a lot of people outside of education/learning research posting about that research in the context of #GenAI. I encourage you to ignore those folks and pay attention to researchers in the education/learning field who've been doing this work a long time. (1/2)
Page 1 of a legal Judgment document from the United States District Court, District of Oregon for Case No. 6:25-cv-02409-MTK, filed on 04/18/26. The plaintiffs are listed as "STATE OF OREGON, et al.," and the defendants are "ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR., in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, et al." The document is from United States District Judge Kasubhai. It outlines that final judgment is entered in favor of the Plaintiffs on Counts I, II, III, and IV. Item 3 states the Court holds unlawful, sets aside, and vacates the "Declaration of the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services RE: Safety, Effectiveness and Professional Standards of Care for Sex-Rejecting Procedures on Children and Adolescents".
Page 2 of a legal judgment document for Case 6:25-cv-02409-MTK, filed on April 18, 2026. The text outlines a court order declaring that defendants lack the authority to unilaterally establish standards of care that supersede professionally recognized standards for gender-affirming care in the Plaintiff States. It permanently enjoins defendants and their agents, including the HHS-OIG, from enforcing the "Kennedy Declaration" against providers in those states. The document is dated April 18, 2026, and is signed by United States District Judge Mustafa T. Kasubhai.
Huge news: the court has entered final judgement in Oregon v Kennedy (HHS trans youth care ban) and has vacated the Kennedy declaration and permanently enjoined its enforcement to target gender clinics.

Today I told a group of education policy experts and leaders that schools should not pay one dime for AI products before we get research on their effects. No testing on our kids. Not sure how everyone felt about it but a lot of people were quite glad to hear it

The top part of the Moon is illuminated. The gray cratered surface stands out against the blackness of space. The Earth appears in the far distance as an upside-down crescent moon shape. There is some lens flare in the top part and center of the image. Credit: NASA

Wow how beautiful those boxes are!
Oh I published that for a session today at AERA! I should add a wee bit of context. These are the games that work really well in classrooms, focus on math but are also FUN, and have enough supports so that kids at different skill levels can play together. I would love to buy this set of games 4 all!
What must it be like to have as little object permanence as the markets do
NEW: We have the Twenty-Fifth Amendment. Now is the time to use it.
It's past time for Trump to be removed from office. This is a global crisis. It's time for J.D. Vance and the Cabinet to invoke the Twenty-Fifth Amendment.
Now, at Law Dork:
another reason we really need to dig into the methods now
Donald Trump must be removed from office for threatening war crimes and genocide.
Speaker Johnson: bring the House back into session.
Invoking the 25th Amendment and impeachment must be on the table, but Congress should also move on a War Powers resolution to stop Trump.

By my count, there are now over 50 House Democrats, along with two Senate Democrats, who have called for Trump to be impeached or removed via the 25th Amendment for his post on Iran.

I'm the daughter of an Army paratrooper who refused orders during our illegal invasion of Vietnam back in the day. He went to LBJ military jail.
Dad taught his girls this: "Just following orders" is NEVER any excuse for anyone who's complicit in war crimes. You MUST refuse heinous orders.
