From the Hermetic perspective, our everyday consciousness is not the baseline of reality, but it is an altered state. We are all living in a collective state of hallucination caused by embodiment. This “Great Hallucination” obscures the true essence of the universe.

If King Solomon provided the blueprints for the Temple, it was Hermes who provided the spiritual inspiration. In the “Old Charges” of Freemasonry, the Seven Liberal Arts are not merely academic subjects, but they are divine sciences salvaged from the Great Flood.

Today, we find ourselves in an ‘Age of Noise,’ where the divine power of language has been democratized but decoupled from the moral weight of Ma’at. We wield the creative fire of the gods with the recklessness of the uninitiated.

Another try to create a new hermetic dialogue inspired by the ones in the authentic hermetic texts.

Does Pythagoras mean the Universal Soul or an individual soul?
But in both cases, a soul needs a body to "cling" to. This can be an animal or a human, but it can also be something else, like a planet or even an imaginary body. Or in the case of our dreams, a temporary body.
The esoteric path back to our divine home, whether traced through the spirituality of Hermeticism or that of Islamic Sufism, shares a profound, singular goal: the detachment of the soul from the grossness of matter and the realization of its divine essence.

A book about authentic Hermeticism that is unknown but I can highly recommend is The Gospel of Hermes by Duncan Greenlees. It is also pretty affordable compared to some of the academic books.

Article about a short Ṣūfī text. The manuscript ascribes it to a son of the great master Ibn Sabʿīn. This work transcends simple instruction. It presumes the reader is already versed in basic Ṣūfī practices, focusing instead on Ṣūfism viewed through a Hermetic lens.

The Ritman Library and Centrum de Roos near the Vondelpark?
What are fun occult spaces in Amsterdam?
We have finally found a beautiful and tranquil place in the Dutch countryside to hold regular meetings of the Dutch Hermetic Study Circle. We've named it Villa Contemplativa.
Hopefully, it will light the flame for the study and practice of authentic Hermeticism.
It is Sinterklaas in the Netherlands, so either watching Sinterklaasjournaal or grabbing a handful of pepernoten. Probably the latter, or both.
The transliteration is based upon the translation by Richard Jasnow and Karl-Theodor Zauzich (The Ancient Egyptian Book of Thoth: A Demotic Discourse on Knowledge and Pendant to the Classical Hermetica)
The Secret Wisdom of Thoth offers a unique approach to the Book of Thoth. This book is maybe the most mystical text of Egyptian thought. In a dialogue Thoth teaches a disciple secret sacred knowledge using the metaphors and symbols associated with the art of writing.

Knowledge of the divine cannot be obtained through conjecture or opinion, because these mental activities belong to temporal reality. Divine knowledge has its source in eternity and is innate within us; it can only be revealed through direct contact with the divine, not by reason alone.

When you pray, guard your heart
When you eat, guard your throat
When you speak, guard your tongue

As a Hermetist it is my belief that God and the gods care about the Anthropos, the living archetype of humanity. As we are individual, temporary expressions of Anthropos, in an indirect way He/they care about us.
Take care not to lose sight of the origin of your self,
Lest, for the sake of good and bad, you lose your self.
The traveller, the road and the destination, you are yourself.
Take care not to lose the road to your self!
- Shaykh Yahya Suhrawardî
A doctor or nurse stands out from the crowd, a policeperson stands out from the crowd, a fireman stands out from the crowd. Why? Because people need to see who they can turn to for help or advice. A flower stands out from the grass. But not every flower is seen as helpful or beautiful by any bee.
In Hermeticism the point is to live a life in line with divine will. To know what the divine will is, you need to gain Nous. Then, whatever your will is, is the divine will, and vice versa. Using magic is what you want to happen, but can you go against the will of the divine? Do you want to?
Zosimos quotes Hermes about how truly enlightened masters accept whatever God has decided for them, good or bad. Perhaps because they recognize that the true cause of whatever happens in their life is the Supreme Good, and attempting to change what He wills reveals that they question God's will.
It seems you have arrived at the same spot Zosimos of Panopolis saw the use of magic.
A profound idea connects the geometry of ancient Egypt to the philosophy of Hermeticism and the allegorical structure of Freemasonry, namely, the necessity of a divine blueprint and a perfect foundation. The idea of a sacred zero point from which true being emerges.

The hermetic texts were written long ago. They were written by different authors, using recurring characters such as Hermes and Tat. We wondered if it was possible to write a modern hermetic text in line with the ancient, authentic hermetic texts. Here is our effort.
