I am so sorry, that is so hard and it is truly horrible right now.
This hits hard.
My good Friend Damien Kiely died too soon from infected blood scandal, as did his brother Taylan and their Mum.
Sadly all gone. RIP to them and to all those lives cut short, full of suffering, from a deep injustice never put right.
Kudos to @lynnefeatherstone.bsky.social

I did a piece for the conversation and that was enlightening to me. I need to learn to do this stuff better so I appreciate your labour
It is really good to model those boundaries to students too. I don't have it on my phone at all, and I look only during the hours they pay me to do so.
Do you enjoy working with intensive longitudinal data or know someone who does?
The STRESS Lab (@stresslab.bsky.social), directed by @nicoleweiss.bsky.social, is hiring a full-time Research Associate/Data Analyst III at The University of Rhode Island.
If a college education did nothing but prevent you from ever acting like you were 100% sure about something ever again, & made you feel like you always needed to learn more & question your assumptions, it would be the best education money could buy, & worth the government providing it free to all.
Ordered. Sounds fascinating
The best male influences on my daughter when she was tiny and we were recovering from an abusive home situation were men who helped her get over that fear. None of them had kids. All of them were "uncles". This is toxic, sexist and harmful.
Congrats!!
🚨🚨It is not often #EUlaw make the headlines but today's significant seminal ruling by the @eucourtofjustice.bsky.social where the Court ruled that #hungarian laws breached the fundamental values of the EU in Art 2 TEU is a major political victory for #LGBTI+ rights. 🧵 www.politico.eu/article/eu-t...
We had a mass longevity movement in the 20th century. It was called public health. It included vaccines, antibiotics, nutritional programmes, maternal support, cancer research.
Funding processes cost 13 per cent of grant value, study finds.
Applicants absorb bulk of costs, leading to suggestion policy reforms should target universities, not funders.

Extraordinary, especially given they forced someone to be apolitical or leave recently
It might help the world change - critical thinking, one person at a time! (screaming into pillows also good coping mechanism)
Have to say, experiencing sepsis from the other side was wild. I appreciate the A&E and ward 3B staff at @gloshospitals.bsky.social for the fabulous care I received, and thoroughly enjoyed the oromorph... A wild ride and a bit unhelpful in writing my PhD!
Really excellent reply to Christine Lee's "reflection" on the Infected Blood Inquiry. It puts it much more professionally than I have been able to put to paper.

This is so important when considering the offers the university makes - non-pay issues are at the heart of improving this and gets forgotten.. These are often staff who are much much MUCH more likely to be vulnerable groups such as disabled members of staff.
Congrats! How exciting!
You know yourself or your loved one better than anyone. If you’re worried about a health condition getting worse while in hospital, please tell us. This can help us to detect deterioration early so we can take action to prevent more serious health problems.

5%? Well, wouldn't that be nice
We think the human body is fully mapped. In reality, anatomy is still incomplete, and shaped by who was studied, and who wasn’t.

For the last time.
We do not have tenure in the UK. Anyone can be made redundant.

🥳Today is Social Prescribing Day 🥳For over 30 years I've been championing creative, innovative interventions for patients. Not every problem that I see as a GP can simply be solved with medicine alone. People need social connection, creativity, activity, community - not just a prescription (1/2)
