Thanks so much for the info, Marc! However, you probably misunderstood me because I asked the question incorrectly...

Here's what I meant: The concept of Minecraft Legends is that it's a story a Villager reads to their child at night. In MCD this is not the case, these are all real events, right?

Marc, forgive me for asking you a question outside your area of expertise again. Just wanted to know: MCD, unlike Minecraft Legends, isn't some kind of tale or something? Were MCD, like MCD Arcade, like Vanilla, always conceived as parts of the universe, without any context like Villagers' tale?

@jebox.bsky.social Jeb, sorry to bother you again, but you still haven't answered my question. I understand that Minecraft only has a shared universe/mythology. But what constitutes part of that mythology/universe? Is this table accurate or not?

Yes, Marc, please forgive us if we did something wrong! We're just getting conflicting information and need to clarify... Sorry!

Doesn't the mythology team give you some kind of "Mojang answer" regarding what is and isn't part of the mythology?

Could you then please tell us what you were guided by when you said "Dungeons are a canonical part of mythology"?

Sorry, but Laura De Laurence confirmed on The Withering Effect podcast that there's a "big Minecraft universe," and I just wanted to know which games are considered part of it. Not that I'm talking about any canon levels.

Thanks so much for the edits! I'll create a more actual version.

What did you mean when you said "Dungeons is canon to the franchise's mythology and is part of the universe"? What is the "Minecraft universe"? Does that mean Dungeons is also part of these "central places in the story" (I'm talking about the mythology)?

It seems that in some places in ROTAI it is said that illagers and villagers have large noses. Therefore, this is their biological feature, and not just a stylization. Moreover, it seems that the difference between iron and redstone golems in the presence of their noses is not just a stylization.

Marc, could you please clarify the difference between "lore" and "mythology"? Is there a specific world in which, for example, Dungeons and ROTAI take place, or what constitutes "canon for the franchise's mythology"? I genuinely can't figure out whether Mojang actually develops lore or not.

I think that 5 years ago we loosely used "canon" and "shared universe/mythology" interchangeably. The games we design are all Minecraft and part of the mythology.

We don't really talk about "canon" or "lore". Each game is its own story. So the objective is to create consistency among different products. E.g., creepers explode, there are endermen in the End, and so on.

Hi Jeb! I have an important question. I know that Mojang has a "mythology team" that writes the mythology of the Minecraft franchise. And I know you never talk about their ideas because you love mystery. However, I wanted to ask: what the mythology team considers canon for the franchise's mythology?
