Just ten years ago the UK was top of the list - the best place in Europe for LGBT rights. We are now 22nd
The only country to drop faster in one year than us is Hungary
The government needs to act in a major way before this becomes their entire legacy

Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare.

Map in French but it has broken trans rights into 5 sections. Russia, Hungary and Bulgaria the worst, UK second worst rating, eastern europe, Germany, France then space and parts of scandinavia.
France has rated the UK as one of the worse places in Europe to be trans - marginally above Russia, Hungary and Bulgaria.

Screw the so-called Labour Party; screw the so-called EHRC; and screw the so-called Supreme Court: you've not made even one woman safer but you're causing great cruelty to tens of thousands of people leading blameless lives.
We do not accept the targeting of disabled people to pay for an economic crisis they did not cause. And we will not sit quietly while the basic right to live with dignity is eroded for the sake of arbitrary fiscal rules designed to protect the interests of the wealthy.
Successive governments have failed to protect basic rights for decades.
Now, instead of tackling the root of soaring living costs, this govt is playing to the gallery - pitching cuts by framing people who are ill or disabled as a 'burden.'
Shameful.

As the US sees a massive crackdown on trans people's very existence, it's important to follow stories like this too. Our communities have already built alliances in the fight for collective freedom - one of many starting points for further resistance.
Risen from roughly 1 in 100,000 to 4 in 10,000 and the telegraph’s making it sound like kids in primary school are queueing to ask their school nurses if they can have puberty blockers

I knew one day I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down – I just didn’t expect them to be such losers

I think it's important to understand that the rhetoric around transmasculine people re. irreversible damage etc. is less of actual sympathy or concern for the trans person themselves, and more addressed to the Patriarch:
"Look at what transgender ideology is doing to Your Property".
This is a brilliantly articulated explanation of something I have long felt. That last line is powerful!
scully: it doesn’t make any sense mulder, out of nowhere he started showing empathy and a base level curiosity about the life experience of others
mulder [tossing a manila folder on the desk]: ever hear of the woke mind virus?
And it's not beyond the pale to consider that a government that bangs on about the welfare 'bill' being too high sees this as a positive thing. It just feels like AD would be seen as a sinister solution to the 'problem' of disabled people existing in a neoliberal society.
Hard to disagree with any of this. I supported assisted dying until I did a research paper on its use in Canada. It's horrifying. When the state shirks its responsibility to provide adequate healthcare and welfare services, you have situations where disabled people see dying as the best option.
Oh wow this is how I described my cat to the vet (not the trans bit obviously). Cursed indeed.
I'll admit I don't know much about Oregon - but I have seen lots of concerning things coming out of Canada
Assisted dying is, in theory, a humane thing to offer those who have terminal or severely degenerative illnesses. In practice, I fear it is just a means of implementing eugenics at the legislative level.
Been thinking a lot lately about that episode of Parks and Rec where Leslie and Tom have to rebrand fluoride in the water as TDazzle in order to get the public to support it.
"Balance the books" is a complete fiction.
Hilarious if it wasn't used as the justification for which people living in poverty who are dying.
His entire premise for everything he's doing in government is built on an entire fiction. A fiction utilised around the world to push private capital.
I would argue we unequivocally did not get rid of thieving Tories tbh
