Meanwhile there's quite a focus on Regular Life going on in my head. Learning to live again, trying to find your place in this world.
And so I think I need to know how this city actually... runs? What people's lives looked like. What jobs they would have had that straight up don't exist now

I'm not looking to replicate an actual genuine time period in the real world, but I just want to get the Vibes right

But genre conventions largely gloss over like... Actual lives? Most protags are nobles or they're travelling around
...or straight up using more modern ways of life with a Veneer

Anyway, this morning I woke up really wishing I knew more about the daily lives of actual, regular, city folk in The Olden Days

Remembered I brought an ebook once of something like that

Haven't even gotten more than 5 pages in and I feel like I need to write notes to remember this stuff >3

I just cant believe we went from 1 member of staff going "lots of artists set up here because they dont want their work to be AI scraped/ remixed, so we wont be doing that" to another one subscribing to an Anti-AI blocklist of /300k accounts/ in less than a year 😵‍💫

I think ultimately I'd like the ppl running this site to realise they ARE running social media. Not just a protocol that has one attached. And got some damn PR training, and made anonymous personal accounts to actually Use The Site on instead of using their Work Ones.

I am aware of the existence of blacksky at least. But that is a spin off specifically for a community I am not part of! I am not going to intrude on that space!!

Honestly, I kinda hope someone can make a spin off OF this platform and make it a non-trivial switch and it be for, like, everyone
