We're looking at pendulum dowsing in this week's episode of Fabulous Folklore! It appears in a range of folklore, from the famous ‘sieve and shears’ practised by cunning folk, to wedding ring-based love divination! Let’s explore them further... pod.co/fabulous-fol...
Eugh, it's 22:30 and I didn't get my weekend work finished before I need to get back to my weekday work tomorrow.
At least I managed to get the work done for my 3rd job.
I'm sure I was told when I was younger that if I worked hard I'd do alright. Doesn't seem to be working.
Thrilled to welcome the excellent @morgandaimler.bsky.social back to Fabulous Folklore Presents to talk fairy courts from Scottish folklore, fakelore, why it's not a great idea to sanitise supernatural beings to suit modern sensibilities... www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Cr3...
One ray of sunshine I cling to in these tumultuous days is the fact that I’ve got a story in this stellar lineup of weird fiction from @tenebrouspress.bsky.social
Which, by the way, you can pre-order now (hint hint) #BookSky 🌈📚😱
Dowsing is often used to find water, minerals, or even lost items. I've already looked at dowsing for water (aka water witching), on Fabulous Folklore. In this episode, we’ll look at dowsing for treasure and criminals!

Really looking forward to this talk later today. Come along!
I hope you chose Brian 😁
Need a distraction from the horrors?
My 2026 class series is DEMONS IN THE DETAILS
An extension of my DICTIONARY OF DEMONS, we delve into the origins of recognizably named demons with an eye toward their evolution in myth & folklore (myth-busting along the way!)
#WitchSky #Demons
Start here:
We do some infusions (rosemary, etc) with vodka & usually use Tito’s…but they’re T——/GOP supporters. Any other reasonably priced option that doesn’t suck?
That looks amazing! I do love calamari but it's not that easy to get over here.
Some personal good news:
MIDNIGHT’S KISS, my inclusive vampire romance solo journaling game is now available on @ipr.bsky.social 🎉
Craft your perfect vampire lover & decide how spicy things get 🌶️ #TTRPG

I feel you. We got to the point of working out whether it was cheaper to use the electric kettle or the gas hob to boil water by turning everything else off and watching the smartmeter like a hawk to save as much as possible, amongst other things.
Got to say we're a bit worried about gas prices now
Oooh, exciting!!! Let us know if it's worth grabbing 😁
Oh, trust me, I've never going to look like a gymdude!!! 🤣🤣
I'll be happy enough when I stop needing to put a 'Wide Load' sticker on the car 🤣
Yeah, I find it really helps not having to commit to a big workout. I can just do a quick set when I grab a coffee or make lunch. I often find that I'll end up doing more than I intended.
It's really helped controlling my blood sugar but I've got a way to go on sorting out my waistline 🤣
A living room filled with exercise equipment
We're also still masking/distancing so it's pretty much our only option.
Awesome! I hate going to the gym, mostly as it takes so long - not only getting there and back but also feeling like you have to do a lot to make it worth it.
So we turned the living room into a gym! 🤣
You got this!
Gentle reminder that I teach online classes on various paranormal & occult topics, digging into history, folklore & mythopoeia
This year’s ongoing series is on demons
Starting with Lilith:
Our public services aren’t for a secretive profit-hungry US tech firm. Sign the petition to tell the Government to scrap all contracts with secretive US tech firm Palantir. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/st...
Anti abortion and anti trans movements are two sides of the same coin. reject both in their entirety. reject the framing. reject the concept, because it is based in perpetuating patriarchal inequality.
Nooooo!
Dang, that one hurts.
🚨 We have heard that the County Archaeologist for Hampshire is being made redundant, with no plans to replace him. 🚨
If you live in Hampshire please write to your MP and Councillors.
If you live elsewhere treasure and support your County Archaeologists, and stand by to protect them. 🏺
Palantir, a US spy-tech firm, has been given access to millions of NHS patient records.
Its founder has said the NHS should be 'ripped up'.
Join me in calling on the government to end the dangerous Palantir contract.

Feels!
A haunted restaurant and a famous medium at the moment. Ended up getting a lot more than I thought so we may end up having to spin off part of it into another episode as it's pretty amazing and deserves it's own space 😁
Just frantically researching and writing as usual!
