is it time to bust out my "bigfoot is bears" photo collection again? if your mental image of a bear is a thick-furred, fat glossy male bear in autumn, you're probably not prepared for how weird their proportions can look in spring, or when walking upright, like they frequently do.

This Bristletail of the Order Archeognatha is an ancient insect that evolved around the same time as the Arachnids. And they live here, in Ireland.

You can find them on seashores, under stones and driftwood. Usually accompanied by Sea Slaters and Amphipods.

Among the most agile of flying creatures, dragonflies have evolved to perform quick aerial maneuvers both to attract mates and to catch prey midair.

Very interesting paper! It's also a fantastic example of how museum collections (including acquisition of "common" species over time) can inform scientific research in ways that other data sources can't.
