Yeah that's similar to gymnastics in the sense that during practice everyone is taking turns on the equipment, but during a meet probably feels a bit different bc in gymnastics your teammates can be pretty close to the equipment cheering you on whereas in skating you have a bigger barrier.

Former gymnast current commentator here. Yep, gymnasts practice with a lot of background noises and sometimes even "distraction" routines where teammates make a lot of noise if they know they will be in a loud arena. @

I mean sure it was inconvenient to move for me too, but at this point I don't see the justification of staying on that platform no matter the convenience.

Exactly this! Like i have no idea about whether people are watching meets I commentate anymore and I miss the fan interaction but at this point it's a nonstarter for me.
