This is not a drill. This is not a shop. This is real. Those crazy sons of bitches really did it.

Looking forward to debating the contradictions of AI at 'Resisting Big Tech Empires' (Sat 25th). What's happening when $$$ is poured into extractive but failing tech? How is AI a diagnostic for the nihilistic turn in geopolitics? What can we do about it? www.globaljustice.org.uk/event/resist...
This 12-sided clock is almost a great idea. But the devil is in the details. Earth has 24 time zones so there's still mental time travel.
My answer would be to make the clock two sided.
Or add more cities and colour code them as pre-Greenwich and post-Greenwich.

Setting: Central Park. A figure with long blonde hair and white robes (the returned Jesus) stands on a path. A small rabbit appears nearby. Panel 1: Rabbit: "Oi, Laughing-boy, piss off why dontcha?" Jesus: "In central park even the rabbits are xenophobic. Who knew?" Panel 2: Rabbit: "I'm the Mars Corp. Easter Bunny™. Easter is big business and we own it. Your return could queer the deal, so hop it or we'll make you into Jeeses Pieces™." Jesus: "You can have it. Easter's a dark time for me, I don't like to be reminded of it." Panel 3: Rabbit: "Really?" Jesus: "Crucifixion's a bastard. I get shivers just thinking about it. Now give me some chocolate, I could do with a sugar rush." ─── HTML files.
A reminder that this is the 20th anniversary of my Easter webcomic Operation Clone Jesus.

I say "cromwell" to my AI assistant roughly twice a week.
It is shorthand for stop, generate multiple hypotheses, you are almost certainly wrong.
We went to WW1 trenches, aviation CRM, and emergency medicine to figure out how to stop my robot blaming my phone for its mistakes.
Stories about billionaire donations need numerical context.
Jerry Murrell's share of Five Guys is worth about $1.5 billion. Giving up $1.5 million is like median American family (net worth $192,000) giving up $192

"Nos ha hecho mejores."

Today is Equinox. The sun directly over the equator and day and night are of equal length.
This looks quite cool in earth-clock's equirectangular projection.

Security nightmare.
Constant attempts to access my Microsoft account (aka MFA‑fatigue attack)
A scam call from "Cambridge Police"
Went to Microsoft to fix my security settings. Good luck with that, sucker!
And good luck trying to find where to complain.

Sinners deserves Best Cinematographer simply for the fact that it's a modern movie where you can tell what's going on during all the night scenes
A bright, storybook-style certificate cover titled “Hannah’s Reading Week” in rainbow letters. In a cosy library or classroom, two cheerful cartoon robots present the featured book, Chester & the Shadow Beast, on a chalkboard showing a fluffy black creature, a chicken, and themes like friendship, bravery, animals, campfire, thunderstorms, and fairground. One robot points at the board with a stick while the other grins from a stack of books, with glowing lightbulbs around its head. Books, a toy carousel, and plush versions of the story characters fill the room. At the centre of this gentle reading celebration, an actual campfire burns on the floor, which feels like a fairly bold interpretation of classroom safety policy.
Last week i was working on weekly reading summaries to send to families using playtandem.com co-reading app. Very impressed by what image generation tools are capable of these days. Although they still need work on their health and safety knowledge..

Song of Kali reads like a TripAdvisor rant that accidentally became a novel — whiny American horrified that India isn't Ohio. Genuinely shocked the same person wrote Hyperion. Less shocked he doubled down on the racism and insularity later in life.
so just hypothetically, if a kid doesn't really know how much money is in his dinosaur bank, and if he lost a tooth today, and if his parents don't carry cash, and it's a bit late to go out and get some....how bad would it be for the tooth fairy to rob the bank and put the proceeds under his pillow?
The dinosaur bank could lend the money to the tooth fairy at their best overnight interest rate. This can often be quite high.
I don't think any of my dreams would pass a health and safety inspection.
Okay, we have a new Khamenei in charge, mission accomplished, let’s go home.
These idiots are angling for another Shah.
see, if you build good bike infra the Daleks will never be forced to develop the power of flight. safer for everyone
I must be hitting the #manopause because not only did I spot this book and think "ooh that's looks interesting" but it was interesting!
My first non-fiction book contains an 1887 homoerotic boozy bath scene between two jacked bareknuckle boxers the morning after they hit each other for two and a half hours in a French field. Please buy it. Also please someone ask me to talk about it, saucily, on a podcast.
20 years since I wrote Operation Clone Jesus.
A simple tale of a dumb American president starting oil wars in the Middle East, with a dash of AI, Aliens & Armageddon.
But those were simpler times 🙄😔

Thank you so much to @helenhayes.bsky.social for hosting a #WorldBookDay debate in Westminster Hall yesterday!
She brilliantly outlined the benefits of reading for pleasure and how it can support bonding and attachment between a child and their caregiver. (1/4)
I say this for a reason. Right after the illegal invasion, US media reported that America and Israel had reverse-engineered the Shahed drone and had essentially identical copies of it. Evidence suggests these suspicious strikes are coming from Lebanon—where the IDF is positioned.
There's no reason for Iran to attack NATO nation Turkey—but a drone did. Iran denies sending it.
There's no reason for Iran to attack a UK base in Cyprus—but a drone did. Iran denies sending it.
Now Azerbaijan has been attacked. Iran denies involvement.
I think this is Israel.
The Prime Minister is asked about abolishing leasehold.
He answers on management companies and ground rents that makes it really clear Labour have no intention of abolishing leasehold.
5 million people stuck paying service charges because Labour stand with property developers.
