Working in software, it's always a miracle when anything actually works the way it's supposed to or the way it's documented. Have to take whatever wins you can get.

Why can't history just make nice clean maps

So like, for example, asking for a million dollars would need to come from somewhere, and either someone will starve because they needed that money, or will be fired for misplacing funds, or will make a rich person mad so they start a campaign that kills people, so that wish would kill people?

Look, manifesting hasn't worked for me yet, but if I keep trying to manifest, eventually I will manage to manifest a manifestation.

On the one hand, can't celebrate the deaths of certain people. On the other hand, I get to look forward to games of American Football that can make me cry in about 15000-16000 years.

What is the context for the ideas or personal projects in this case? Like, game ideas? Ideas for applications? Or is it something more or less specific?

That said, 1News can now be added to that same list.

The Incredible Multiverse of NZ Journalism There's a very strange thing that happens in New Zealand journalism - and it happens a lot

It seems nothing has changed in the 4 years since @davidfarrier.com complained about this: www.webworm.co/multiverse/

Maybe slightly different in that 1/200 published an orgs statement instead of reporting, but them saying "a statement" doesn't tell a reader where to actually find said statement.

It's weird how Stuff and RNZ both covered the Fired Up Stilletos Greens selection story but conspicuously didn't mention where that story was broken, at @1of200.bsky.social.

remember National won in 2023 significantly on the back of a "tax plan" that was openly lied about by them, and then amplified *by every single major outlet* as being better for workers than Labour. Then when Renney showed the numbers were wrong *every single complicit reporter* blamed the public

because the main information tracks for the majority of the NZ electorate are openly corrupt, & in the pocket of capital *at best* and accelerating fascism at worst

NZ's info environment is *incredibly* narrow, & as we're seeing, incredibly easy to control in ways that media workers just wave away

Fired Up Stilettos Expects Better From Would-be Allies — 1/200 We think it is important to note that all organisations (and organisers!) will mess up at some point; what matters is the willingness to repair and grow.

Fired Up Stilettos Expects Better From Would-be Allies ✒️

When party strategy gets in the way of progress, what options are there for recourse?

We have the privilege to platform this article from Fired Up Stilettos detailing some worrying interactions with the Green Party.

This was a hard read, and deeply concerning when I was initially approached about what occurred

Even as I was reading it again before upload this morning, i was *still* shocked and angered at the things said and implied by the selection committee and party administration

The left *must* do better

Either seeding malware, profiting off AI shit, participating in/coordinating harassment campaigns, or in prison for one or more of the above.

Jesus absolute FUCKING Christ, this man has been given so many fucking opportunities for easy wins or getting to benefit from coalition shambles, but he is just pathologically incapable of doing anything that would actually win voters.

Does Hipkins know there's an election in 8 months? Because not offering ideas that far out from an election is why he lost the last one

Being on a Macbook Pro with the brightness turned up may have helped me a non-insignificant amount.

I used to quietly think that people who would call Microsoft things like M$, Micro$oft or Microshaft were being juvenile and not to be taken seriously, and I kind of still do, but in the era of Microslop, it's clear that the company needs all the bullying it can get.

This feels like it accurately describes my experience writing individual tests, writing a single test suite, or writing all the test suites for an application.

I have a theory that all code tests follow the same trajectory when making them:

0-30%: A slog, trying to establish a pattern.
30-80%: A breeze, mostly just repeating the patterns.
80-100%: A slog, dealing with edge cases/minutiae.

This feels true regardless of which scale you're looking at.
