Joanne closed her helpline for single parents right around when she announced she'd be donating heavily to anti-trans causes. They closed because of lack of funding.
She's a billionaire.
She doesn't care about "single mums".

One charity down then.
Thanks for helping me work through this :)
Hm. These are good questions :) I think my ideal would be to be able to filter out people who would be offended by it. I don't want to upset people unnecessarily: the world is rough, it doesn't need to be harder. But I don't think filtering is practical. I think it just has to be an offline thing.
They made exotic oxides and nitrides in the hope of fun superconducting or magnetic properties. And we played metal in lab. The work was a little rote and chemistry based for me, but the group were excellent.
Charmingly irregular home made biscuits on a tray. Some are shaped like cylindrical cups filled with colours, and one like a piece of bacon.
11 years since I did my first wet lab placement (the sort of lab with liquids and chemistry rather than electromagnets: not my home turf back then) and made them biscuits to say thanks. There was a lot of work with crucibles and some with barium cobalt nitride. #Science #Baking #chemistry
I usually put my art on my Instagram/FB. I know I'm feeding it to the ai machine but I care more about how nice it feels to have feedback than the machine being able to copy me, given I don't sell.
A chunky metal character with no face visible, in steel grey armour glowing from within with fire
A character in chunky metal armour, missing a helmet. Instead, he has a stuffed derpy looking fish on his head. I am informed this is permanent..
My love is unable to change his costume in #worldOfWarcraft and I am dying laughing.
Left, the dream: right, how it's stuck now.
Very small crew of friends here: I have an issue. My current art project (still in progress) is quite a labour of love, and I'm happy with it and want to show it off but it's sort of.. a bit blasphemous
What do?
A civilization is not destroyed by wicked people; it is not necessary that people be wicked but only that they be spineless.
Apropos of nothing, thinking of James Baldwin today.
Same. Thank you NATO. I have saved it for future listening when I need it as well.
I learned on the weekend that mesopotamia literally means 'between the rivers'. Which is a charmingly basic way to name a whole human civilization.
I crowbarred this into a meeting today and it did not go well. So hello bluesky.
My love informs me this is a very specific dream
(My PhD was in anisotropic gels)
SEIZE JOY FROM THE JAWS OF PAIN. DO YOU HAVE MEDICINE YOU NEED TO TAKE?
I dreamt my friend from PhD had got three additional degrees, invented a way of making anisotropic gels and got a Nobel prize. I died of jealousy.

Iconic that NASA woke up the #Artemis II crew with Pink Pony Club
Been wondering what I could offer. Not sure. The problem is that all the science I do now (and in the last 6 years) is heavily confidential.
By design: you don't want interesting people who'll decide to investigate something else better up there, or start fights for fun, or not toe the line on a VERY EXPENSIVE pr exercise.
But nonetheless. Boring.
Watching the Artemis II transmissions, I can't help but be reminded of fundamental human truths: astronauts are so bloody boring.
Failed to get an emfcamp ticket (organisation bleh). Let me know if you have leads on any!
University of Oxford : maximising oil and gas extraction here would only save UK households up to £82 (€95) per year. A UK fully powered by renewable energy, would save households up to £441 (€510) a year on energy bills.

The concept of the British middle class is conveniently elastic. On the one hand, it’s used to refer to anyone with a white collar job and a mortgage, on the other it’s defined as families with nannies and kids at private school who can somehow be presented as the national norm.
Drawing of a cute shark with a heart and trans symbol drawn on her chest. Tattoo style banner around her says 'older than the north star' and there are pink stars behind her.
More #art. A cute blåhaj with a #trans rights message in the pink notebook I only draw on with blue and pink, which is SO NEARLY FINISHED. (And then what do I do?)
Small black paper notebook on a table, showing a geometric interlocked drawing done in silver on black. Lots of horns and point and a glowing centre.
Black on black sigil #art done while listening to the Lovecraft Investigations. Thanks @juliansimpson.bsky.social and team! #PleasantGreen
Also nerded out at the optician about:
1) phase contrast imagining
2) pressure monitoring
3) eye anatomy
4) gels
They love me
Went to the optician today. The frames were sorted into men's, women's, and designer.
The three genders.
Y'know, I've done pretty well at work this week. I'm trained as a polymer physicist but I've assessed for a client what bugs they could culture on what to achieve <outcomes censored>, and had some opinions that my more fermentation experienced colleagues agree with.
