If we’re gonna start saying only cool people can go to Coachella, they’re gonna sell a lot less tickets

Yeah, the complaints about that word have been weirdly literal. The headline is obviously being playful
Okay, this is a much more interesting take that questions the facts of the Geese article (as opposed to just making snarky comments about how all bands use marketing)

Oh:
A 2022 study found that children in households that used voice commands with tools like Siri and Alexa became curt when speaking with humans, often calling out “Hey, do X” and expecting obedience, especially from anyone whose voice resembled the default-female electronic voices.
I find it weird how dismissive people are about the Wired Geese article.
A PR firm used a bunch of fake accounts to get the band on the radar. That’s straight up deception.
Yet I keep seeing takes like this. You don’t care that you’re being lied to? Okay, cool.

I know it's early and these preliminary results don't mean anything, BUT it still feels like a weird omen that the Liberals and the Bloc are once again one vote apart in Terrebonne
I felt like an absolute genius today when I came to this realization.
Oof. Many of us are feeling this, but it’s hard to read from one of the best podcasters in the biz.
The great thing about working out at home is you don’t have to change into gym clothes. You can just take off your pants.
I sorta get it, since she’s getting the job 6 months before the election, so she’s basically just showing up in time to campaign as leader of an unpopular party.
But yeah, if Doug Ford or Danielle Smith had been replaced, I’m sure the whole country would be hearing about it for weeks if not months
Sorry, sorry. From now on, only you get to have the opinions.
Sounds like there were two babies in that movie theatre
Why did you include a picture of @pattonoswalt.bsky.social?
Thanks, that sounds like the same thing
Oh god, is he dead??

You can read the whole thread or just this tweet. It’s great either way.
A butthole logo and then Claude
This book is my fiftieth-birthday present to myself. I feel as though I am crossing the spine of a roof-having ascended one slope. I am programmed at fifty to perform childishly—to insult "The Star-Spangled Banner," to scrawl pictures of a Nazi flag and an asshole and a lot of other things with a felt-tipped pen. To give an idea of the maturity of my illustrations for this book, here is my picture of an asshole: * I think I am trying to clear my head of all the junk in there—the assholes, the flags, the underpants. Yes-there is a picture in this book of underpants. I'm throwing out characters from my other books, too. I'm not going to put on any more puppet shows. I think I am trying to make my head as empty as it was when I was born onto this damaged planet fifty years ago.
The Claude logo is just the Kurt Vonnegut butthole doodle
I would drink it though.
I’ve just been informed today is something called “April Fools Day” and that I am “an all-time fool.”
“Randy Watson is a Son of a Bitch” didn’t make the list?
From a local cafe. I am both intrigued and disgusted.

If you haven't heard of Angine de Poitrine, 1) I assume you live in English Canada, and 2) you should watch this.
These guys from Saguenay are blowing up around the world.
The costumes and this guitar could all be a gimmick if the music wasn't so infectious!

This is cool!
Damian Abraham launched a production company which bills itself as “a home for stories that are raw, strange, and often overlooked.”
That includes music documentaries and more surprisingly a comedy series Abraham cowrote with a guy from the Halluci-Nation.

I won’t give away more details, because I think part of the beauty of this series is listening to the story reveal itself.
But it gave me faith! Love+Radio’s Nick Van der Kolk is one of the OG documentary podcast auteurs, and this was a necessary reminder of the artistic potential of this medium.
The story is interesting, but the craft is what grabbed me. There’s no narration. It starts with a strangely beautiful description of a knife fight, then entirely switches gears to other characters. You don’t know what’s happening, but it’s gripping, and all these interviewees speak like poets.
I’ve been having trouble getting into narrative podcasts lately. A rigid formula has developed. I know the music cues. I can see the story beats coming. And that slow, measured narration really bugs me.
This show isn’t like that. It totally sucked me in.

This story about tourism dropping in Niagara Falls (US) has a hilarious detail where the guy who runs the tourist bureau admits he used to help Canadian shoppers evade duties by changing into their new clothes.
It’s not clear if he realized he was doing that.
