that the subjective and creative script for an audio described movie isn’t itself considered transformative!! WTF, US copyright law?

Would someone please bankroll some good trouble so this can be fixed?

your grandma’s recipe book! Our main work is making audio of news/information like local newspapers, and we’re allowed to do this because of the Chafee Amendment. It covers accessibility for “literary works.”

It’s infuriating that AV media is excluded. AND it’s infuriating

Do you ever hear a podcast and want to yell “YES, AND…”? That was me with @hyperfixedpod.bsky.social this morning. ACPL’s Audio Reading Service is one of dozens of nonprofit/gov’t orgs that make custom audio for the reading-impaired — sometimes even custom audio for things like home movies or

I have refused to get a TV larger than 42 inches. We’ve been watching nascar this week, and I can barely read the running order since the kerning is so tight. Clearly designed for larger screens.

Mamdani: [rolls natural 20]

GM: that’s a d6 how did you

Mamdani: [direct to camera] Did you know you can check out board games at your local public library? 😊

I miss the evil billionaires who'd try to buy their way into heaven by funding massive public libraries

lol I got bed-rotting, which doesn’t bode well. Real Q though is which prof it was if it was at our alma mater!

I'm so SO sorry to do this but it's stuck in my head and this is the only way to get it out. Please know I hate myself for doing this more than you ever could hate me for it: COVFIFA

I just finished watching Newsies. I think we all need a Kenny Ortega-directed reminder that those who control our attention and our information have the power to control us.

Grassroots but national is where the energy is right now. Like @boltsmag.org.

Unless you’re in the culture it’s hard to see how factious religious political drama has any relevance to “real life” elsewhere. The stories from 2010-2012 only got a tiny national blip when the maybe-sex-scandals surfaced. A cautionary tale that only a few insiders heard.

Oh God. The local media really tried. The reports and witnesses still exist.

I cannot believe that no one has run with stories about Mike Johnson and the Judge Paul Pressler School of Law. It’s a story that ties together SBC/LBC abuses and takes them straight to Congress. (But what’s one more tale of corruption in politics or the church? Hardly a blip.)

I had to become a VA claims expert to help my husband get through the process. The online (free) knowledge-sharing on Reddit and our local (free) VSO equipped us to navigate the system. It’s not manipulation to have transparent criteria, decision-making, and support. Most vets aren’t grifters.

If you read the WaPo article about grift in the veteran disability claims process, please know they did a poor job telling the story. Behind every claim is a real veteran dealing with long term consequences of their service. The system is an opaque behemoth. Vets need real help navigating it.

You’re the only person I follow who ever posts fitness content. And I realize it’s tangential to what you’re “known” for. But your example gave me courage and yesterday was my first personal training session at the Y. Thanks for that.

There is a moment at this time of year when the word ‘apricity’ really comes into view. For those who don’t know it, it was recorded only once, in 1623, before slipping out of view. Apricity is the warmth of the sun on a chilly day.

Mike Johnson was charged with opening a law school (in honor of a pedophile) in 2011. Failed miserably. (I was there.) His inability to lead is a feature, not a bug.
